The river was rippling down the landslide. At the riverbank sat a girl. A curious boy watching from behind the trees. A mischievous smile on his lips. She was dropping pebbles into the water, watching them sink and get carried away with the stream. The boy stepped from behind the tree, coming up to her. Remaining as quiet as ever. Making sure to not step on any twigs.
He neared her, throwing his hands in front of her eyes. The girl gasped loud, panicking as she slapped the hands away. Eagerly she turned around only to meet up with a laughing boy. â âMerlin!â â you called out, shoving him off. He stumbled back, unable to control his laughter. â âYou scared me.â â you told him crossing your arms. Merlin got back up, keeping his hand behind his back.
He then brought his hand to the front. Filled with flowers. It made you gasp loud in awe. â âFor you.â â he said cheeky. Instead of reaching for the flowers, you grabbed for his shoulder. Pushing him aside to look behind his back. Looking curiously around. â âWhere did you get these?â â you asked curious as Merlin kept chuckling. â âMagic.â â he whispered to you with a wink.
You sat back, arms crossing as you didnât like him taunting you. â âDonât you want the flowers then?â â Merlin proposed, already moving them away. You practically leaped for them. Making him fall backwards as you landed on top of him. Plucking the flowers from him. Getting back up, you stuck your tongue out to him. Merlin stuck his tongue back out to you. Merlin helped you up to your feet. He picked up a stick, swaying it around. Slapping at leaves that got in the way.
You glanced his way, laughing at his silliness. â âWhat?â â Merlin responded confused. â âYou look funny.â â you told him. â âYou donât think I can be a knight?â â Merlin answered. You shook your head. Merlin puffed loud, running up to a rock. He came standing on it, stick in the ready. â âIf I become a knight I can protect you Y/n.â â he said letting the stick twirl around. His hands slipped as the stick plunged up.
Hitting him in the head before dropping down. He rubbed his head with a pained expression as you could only snort loud. Merlin jumped off the rock, rubbing the back of his head. â âMaybe when youâre bigger.â â you told him. â âMaybe.â â Merlin repeated. You smiled up to him. â âY/n!â â you heard call out. â âOh my mommy is calling for me.â â you said out loud. â âSee you tomorrow?â â you asked. Merlin nodded. â âTomorrow.â â he shouted back, waving you goodbye.
âMerlin!â â His name got called out loud. Merlinâs eyes flashed open, suddenly aware of his surroundings. Groaning deeply, he pushed himself up. Having laid on his stomach somehow. Sitting on his bed, he drew his hand down his face. Wondering why he was dreaming of a girl from his childhood. A former friend from his village.
He hadnât thought in years about you. Now it appeared his mind kept dreaming of lost memories of that time. Always catapulted back to the past when he was but a young boy. With little care in the world and no worries. â âMerlin!â â the voice roared out again.
Merlin grabbed for his booth, pulling it over his foot. He then putted on his other one. Running a hand through his hair, he walked out of his room. â âFinally boy. I was starting to wonder if you werenât breathing anymore.â â Gaius chuckled out. â âHA. Ha.â â Merlin responded blandly before sitting down.
Gaius took a tentative eye at his ward. â âWhat?â â Merlin asked furrowing his brows at the way Gaius was observing him. Gaius came closer making Merlin lean back. â âGaius!â â he called out, pushing him away. â âI wanted to know if you had been drinking.â â he spoke turning back to his breakfast.
âI didnât go to the tavern.â â Merlin responded grumpily. â âThen why the bewildered gaze?â â Gaius asked pointing it out. Merlin scratched his head, shrugging his shoulder. â âNothingâŚâ â he responded. Surely dreaming of the past was nothing serious. He knew if he might tell Gaius about it, he would see it as an omen.
Something he wasnât interested in hearing a full on lecture about. Merlin grabbed a few pieces of bread before running off. â âWhere are you off too?â â Gaius called out. â âArthur!â â Merlin shouted back before disappearing.
Merlin made his way higher up in the castle to Arthurâs chambers. Quickly stuffing the bread in his mouth on his way. He encountered Gwen on his way, smiling back at her with a stuffed face. It made Gwen snort loud before heading over to Morganaâs chambers. Merlin knocked on the door before entering. â âArthâŚâ â he began, looking over at the bed.
Only for Arthur to not be in his bed. â âMerlin!â â Arthur called out, drawing his attention away from the bed and more to the side of his chambers. There Arthur was already half dressed. â âYou are up early.â â he mumbled to himself before closing the door behind him. He assisted Arthur in getting ready. Afterwards they joined everyone in the throne room.
Uther was talking to Arhtur by the throne as the heavy doors got pushed open. A panting person running inside. â âHelp! Help! Our village is being run down.â â the man shouted loud in a panic. Uther and Arthur stared confused at the man. Some knights came in motion, moving closer to block his path if they needed too. â âPlease help.â â the man breathed out before going out cold.
He dropped to the ground making Gwen gasp loud. Uther shielded Morganaâs eyes when there stuck a knife out of the manâs back. Arthur approached the man, pulling the knife out of his back. â âRuffians.â â he called out letting the knife clatter to the ground. He had recognized the weapon. Arthur whistled loud, rallying his men up. Merlin started to run after him.
âArthur⌠you donât even know where this village is. It might be a trap.â â Merlin spoke, hasting after him. Arthur stopped making Merlin almost bump into him. â âI canât let innocent people die. Certainly not my people.â â Arthur told him as a final. Merlin nodded, following him outside. The knights of the round table came joining him. Readying their horses to head out. Soon they rode out. Soon they noticed smoke in the air, making them hurry up.
The closer they got, the louder the screams became. A man jumped at them, screaming whilst he was on fire. Gwayne hopped off his horse, taking a blanket to pull it around the man. He fell down with the man in his embrace. Deafening out the flames. When he opened the blanket, the man had already passed due to the burns.
Arthur hurried his horse faster as he didnât want to waste any time. The rest of the knights following him into battle. Arthurâs eyes widened upon the village. Several houses were on fire. People running around in terror being chased by ruffians. One ruffian pulled a woman back by her hair as her screams filled the air. Children were crying in hiding. A man got stabbed from both sides by two laughing ruffians.
Arthur jumped off his horse, drawing his sword. He called it out, running into to battle with the knights of the round table behind him. Merlin got off his horse as well, running over to some little kids hiding under a cart. â âCome, quickly.â â he said to them, hurrying them from under the cart. The kids crawled out, following Merlin further into the woods.
A woman came running with him as he ordered her to get them to safety. She nodded, taking them all under her wing, running deeper into the woods. Merlin turned back around frantically at how they were going to get this under control. He searched for Arthur amidst them, seeing him fight gallantly.
The door got kicked in as you ran inside. â âHurry!â â you called out, opening your arms to two little kids. They ran up to you, shivering to the bone. You took each under your arm, leading them back outside. Trying to look for an escape. A ruffian came from your side, making you scream loud. You were defenceless, making yourself smaller to wait for impact.
Just as the ruffian was moving his axe down, it got blocked by a sword. â âRun girl!â â one of the knights called out, grunting loud at the axe still hinged with his sword. You nodded, taking the kids with you. â âMommyâŚâ â the little girl cried out. â âWeâll find her.â â you told her, looking around.
A man fell in front of your feet, making you close the childrenâs eyes. One of the ruffians had thrown him at your feet. Now his gaze was on you. Grunting loud as he cracked his neck. Gasping loud, you took a run for it. Dragging the children with you as fast as you could.
âUnder the cart now!â â you ordered them so they could escape through the other side. They let go of your hands, crawling underneath it. You wanted to crawl under it with them till you felt a grip around your ankle. Dragging you back out. Screaming loud, you turned round, kicking and screaming your way out.
The screaming caught Merlinâs ears, making him turn his head. His eyes widening at what he was seeing or rather who he was seeing. â âY/n?â â he whispered out in shock. You kept kicking your foot at the ruffian trying to get him off. The ruffian was grinning, grabbing on tight to your ankle. Merlin tensed his expression, eyes gleaming. Whispering out a spell.
You watched with wide eyes how the ruffian got flung back. Before you fully processed it, someone came diving to your side. â âY/n!â â he said, taking your hand to help you get up. â âMerlin?â â you replied confused as he helped you up. â âHow⌠how are you hereâŚâ â you asked as he shushed you.
He looked frantically around, keeping you behind his back. Perhaps his dreams were an omen. An omen that he would meet you again after all those years. Now that you have grown-up. You held on to his clothing for security. A ruffian made eye contact with Merlin, grunting loud.
Merlin breathed out loud, lowering his chin just that bit. His eyes glowing as he whispered out a spell. You gasped loud when the ruffianâs helmet got flung off his head by an object. The ruffian dropping to the ground knocked-out. You screamed out his name  when a ruffian came running over from the side.
Tugging at the back of his jacket. Merlin turned a bit, kicking the ruffian back with his foot. He stumbled back. Merlin moved his arms back so that he could feel you behind him. Slightly backing up as the ruffian got back up. Angrier than ever.
You yelped loud, holding on tight to Merlin. Tears in your eyes as you wanted it to be over. Merlin kept backing up with you, making sure youâd be as close to him as possible. â âMerlin.â â you cried out, face buried against his back. Merlin panted loud, flung back to the past for a moment.
Pulled back to the memory where he said heâd protect you. Merlin took a deep breath, finding a deep strength. He called it out, launching forwards to punch the ruffian on his cheek. You moved your hands with shock to your mouth when he got knocked down. Merlin backed up again wary if he would get back up. Before he could get back up, Arthur was there to finish the deed.
âGet out of here!â â he called out to his servant. Merlin nodded, grabbing you by the hand, pulling you away from the situation. He ran into the woods with you, waiting there for things to clear out. Soon the battle was over. Ruffians and civilians scattered around. Arthur and his knights still standing up straight. Worn out, they guided the survivors to their horses. Riding out with them to follow.
Merlin had climbed onto his own horse, holding his hand out to you. He helped you up, coming to sit behind him. Wrapping your arms around him, he followed the others. Guiding the survivors safely to the castle. â âNot quite a knight then.â â you said letting your chin rest on his shoulder.
âNot quite.â â Merlin chuckled out. It wasnât difficult to see Merlin was not dressed like a knight. â âYet to me you are.â â you whispered to him, leaving a sweet kiss against his cheek. Merlin stuttered out a cough, blushing from ear to ear.
It didnât take you long to fall asleep against his back. Merlin telling you gently to wake up when you arrived at the castle. Gwayne helped you down from the horse. Merlin then quickly took you over from him once more. â âAre you alright Y/n?â â he asked taking you inside.
You nodded weakly. He guided you into the throne room where all survivors combined. Morgana and Gwen hurried around giving out water and tending to the wounded with Gaius. Merlin never leaving your side.
Gwayne nudged Arthur with a nod at Merlin. â âHeâs being awfully close to that girl.â â he pointed out. Arthur looked his direction seeing how both of you were talking and laughing a bit. It made him quirk his eyebrow up.
Merlin smiled as you reached out to brush some hair aside. â âYouâve grown.â â you said. â âYou tooâŚâ â he responded with a shy smile. Merlin held his hand behind his back. Revealing it with a single flower in his hand. It made your jaw drop pleasantly, giving him a shove. â âHow do you keep doing that!â â you called out teasingly.
Merlin chuckling bashful. â âMagic.â â he whispered to you with a wink. You ignored the flower once more, throwing your arms around him. He nearly fell backwards from the impact. â âIâve missed you so much.â â you told him. Merlin wrapped his arms around you, smiling. â âMe tooâŚâ â he whispered back.
Merlin moved making you let go of him. Staring curious into his eyes. A silly thought crossing his mind. He grabbed you by the chin, quick to leave a kiss on your lips. It caught you off guard. Merlin cackling up at how it took you by surprise.
Glaring at him, you took him by the scarf, pulling hard on it. Merlin nearly got choked by you as you lowered him. Leaving a quick kiss with him as well. Smiling teasingly afterwards. Merlin wrapped his arms around you. Relieved that he had found you for he was never letting you go anymore.

I've had an idea for a fic where married Merthur gets sent back in time with Merlin being genderfluid and currently presenting fem, using magic to alter her appearance into a female form. Everyone they interact with assumes that fem Merlin is a foreign princess Arthur marries and she plays along so as to not give away her identity and the fact she's magic. I love the thought of Past Arthur picking up on small things that should clue him into the fact that his future wife is actually Merlin and then he just doesn't.
Past Arthur: What perfume is that? The scent seems familiar. Fem Merlin: I don't use perfume. I do work with herbs quite often though, I'm a fully trained physician. Past Arthur: Hmm, maybe it's something I remember from Gaius's chambers. Fem Merlin: *looks at past Merlin* Yes I'm sure something similar has been in Gaius's chambers before Future Arthur off to the side like: Please tell me I wasn't this stupid

JUST A BET.
pairings: theodore nott x fem!gryffindor!reader.
warnings: not proof read and written a while ago so probably some cringe content.
in which you find out the truth about your relationship.
when theodore nott, the hottest slytherin and playboy at hogwarts, first asked you out, both you and your friends were shocked and thought it was simply a joke.
however, when he continued to ask you out until you finally caved and agreed, you started to think he was being genuine about his feelings.
you, surprisingly, enjoyed your first date with him. one date became multiple dates, then multiple dates became a relationship that everyone talked about.
constant teasing from other students never got in the way of your relationship with the boy, as he always shut your doubts down immediately.
even though he tried his best, your doubts still crept into your mind once and a while.
you entered the greenhouse and stood next to your best friend, hermione.
âhello.â she turned to you with a huge smile on her face.
âhey.â you glanced down at the plant in her hands, âpretty plant.â
she rolled her eyes, ây/n, you should know what plant this is.â
hermione continued talking at you, but a certain conversation happening behind you caught your attention.
âyeah, you should ask him out, definitely. heâd probably say yes. you know his girlfriend? yeah, well, draco and i were hanging out and everyone was drunk and he told me something super weird.â youâd recognize that voice anytime. pansy, a girl thatâs part of theoâs slytherin group. âdonât tell anyone, theo would kill us all, but like, draco told me mattheo and lorenzo paid theo to ask her out and heâs still going along with it, i guess. i feel bad for her, though, sheâs actually nice.â pansy continued gossiping.
you felt your heart sink. youâve grown used to hearing cruel rumours about you and theodore, but this was coming from pansy, whoâs never told a lie, even though she gossiped often.
ây/n?â hermione snapped you back to reality.
âiâm not feeling too proper, i think i had too many pastries at breakfast.â you forced a laugh, âcover for me, please, iâm going up to the dorm.â
before hermione could protest, you grabbed your bag and headed back towards the castle, leaving your fellow classmates confused.
you could feel your eyes watering and focused on making it to your bed without anyone seeing your current state.
however, your plans failed when you heard a voice call after you.
ây/n!â theodore yelled from down the corridor. the sound of his voice only motivated you to walk faster. âwait!â
you inhaled sharply and bit down your lip to hold back any tears.
âwhatâs wrong? why arenât you in class?â he managed to catch up you. theodore grabbed your wrist and spun you around to face him. âare you alright? i was on my way to the bathroom and noticed you. youâre supposed to be in the greenhouse, arenât you?â
you contemplated all the cruel things you could say to him, yet nothing came out, except a shaky exhale.
âhello? earth to y/n?â he laughed, flashing you his usual smile that you used to melt over.
âi have to ask you something.â you mumbled.
âwhat?â
you looked up at him with a straight face, âare you only going out with me because your friends paid you?â you were blunt and asked him the big question immediately.
âwhat?â the look in his eyes gave everything away. it wasnât shame or guilt, it was realization and shock, only because he got caught.
âyouâre a fucking dickhead.â you scoffed. you couldnât listen to him plead, but you also couldnât stand there and beg for answers and an explanation. you wriggled you wrist out of his grasp and started walking away.
âitâs not like that, okay?â he stopped you again, standing in front of you this time.
âget out of my way.â you sighed.
âyouâre really giving up? youâre not even going to hear me out? for merlinâs sake, youâre being ridiculous. who even told you? was it lorenzo?â he spat out his friendâs name with venom.
âit doesnât matter who fucking told me! i canât believe youâre calling me ridiculous right now! iâm not giving up, iâm having some self respect, something you clearly donât have considering you were willing to go out with someone for some money.â
he clenched his jaw in anger. âlook, it started off as a stupid bet. nobody thought youâd agree, we thought youâd never go out with anyone, you seemed closed off, i said otherwise and i was right because youâre genuinely the kindest person iâve met. it became serious after the first date and it wasnât a bet anymore! i promise.â
âit doesnât matter if it isnât a bet now, it was one originally! thatâs a vile thing to do to someone!â you yelled.
âi know, i know, and i am so sorry.â he huffed, âjust, please, i really like you.â
âi liked you too.â you paused and his expression dropped.
âliked?â
âthis isnât going to work, i refuse to be a pawn in the weird games you and your friends entertain. i am a real fucking person, theo, not some dating experiment.â
before he could say more, you finally walked away from him and towards the moving stairs.

The prince, the magician and the physician
Summary when the witchfinder accuses you of having magic you must convince Arthur that your feelings for the boy have never been disingenuous. And Merlin must race against the clock to save you but can you be saved? Can your relationship with Arthur? Can love truly conquer Arthurâs prejudice?
Italics mean flashbacks
Word count: about 8k
Warning: torture, mention of execution, feeling betrayed, readers anxious, reader accepts death, canon divergence (but same overarching plot), Arthur may be a bit ooc sorry!

We hit 900 followers a few weeks ago and it was such a milestone thank you all for enjoying my fics enough to follow!
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
The witch finders arrival had you and Merlin in shambles he had already been pointing fingers and he had been in Camelot for nearly a day and already had been accusing people of having magic.
What was worse, he had witnesses. Three girls from the lower town who had been seeing traces of magic a man coughing up a frog from his throat, to a goblin dancing in the flames of a dying fire. To faces of the drowned in the well. with every confession you sent an angry glare to Merlin beside you, since he was the reason this witch finder had been called in the first place.
Fear bubbled in your throat when the witchfinder said he already had suspects. and who the witchfinder had accused happened to be yourself, Merlin, and the lady morgana.
It was day three when he found âproofâ you were a witch. (Of course you were but the proof was bogus. It wasnât yours.)
It wasnât Merlinâs either, it was an amulet poorly hidden in a pot. Neither yourself nor Merlin were skilled with charming jewellery, and you couldnt wear bracelets whilst being the court physicians apprentice, besides when would you even have the time to charm jewellery? Between saving Arthur, being gauisâs apprentice, and watching over Merlin you never had a second to breathe.
But despite having never seen the amulet in your life you knew the witchfinder would see no sense. Men like that never would, and what was worse the witchfinder happened to be an old friend of gauis, with a reputation based on brutality and hatred. He despised magic with a passion if he suspected you, you were already as good as dead.
But you couldnât let Merlin die by the hands of the witchfinder, Merlin had far too much life ahead of him.
He had to protect Arthur. He had to unite Albion. he had to live long enough to see Arthurâs rule And believe me There was nothing you wanted more than to see Arthur unite Albion and bring magic to the land But you werenât the one destined to unite Albion, you were however destined to protect those you loved and some part of you was okay with dying for the cause of keeping your family safe.
and if you were asked if you regretted taking the fall for Merlin or gauis, of course youâd say no. He was your best friend and gauis was like a grandfather to you. Youâd let them sentence you to death a thousand times over if it meant Merlin was safe. If gauis was safe.
âSearch through that cupboard and under the bed!â The witch finders commanding voice called out to the guards as they tore apart gauisâs chambers you were aware by now that the moment he walked in heâd already deemed you guilty.
By the way His eyes narrowed like a predator to prey, the atmosphere was tense like heâd been preparing to go for the kill for awhile now. and disgust permeated from his figure in waves this man watched you like you were the dirt on his shoe, some small disgusting insect that deserved to die if he even thought you had magic.
Sharing a nervous glance at gauis your hands wringing nervously in your lap as you watched these knights destroy your home your gaze asked gauis the same question heâd been dreading, where was Merlinâs spell book?
If you were going to go down for magic paraphernalia you fully thought it would be because of Merlinâs spell book not some poorly disguised amulet that wasnât yours in the first place.
Leon had been the one to find the amulet a haunted look in his eyes you could tell Leon did not want to do this, but honour bounded the knights more than kinship. More than years spent with each other from childhood sparring, to treating his wounds when Leon grew from a bashful baby faced boy into a lean young man practicing to become a knight.
He was honour bound to tell this monster what he found And youâd hate to see Leon burned beside you under the guise of solidarity. It was better for one to burn than two.
âAn. enchanted. amulet.â The witchfinder spoke slowly as he inspected the Jewlery, every word sealing your fate âwhose is this? Perhaps the boy Merlin Or the girls? Or even yours, old friend.â The witch finder sneered pointing his finger in your face as he circled gauis and yourself like you were prey
Your horror filled eyes flickered to gauis and you watched as his mouth opened and his eyes flashed with familiar selflessness it was clear, what the old man was going to do, he loved his little family as much as you did and youâd hate to see the old man take the blame for you or Merlin again.
living with gauis has already been enough of a burden you couldnât let him die for something he had no part in (not that you did either but you were nothing if not loyal.) your heart constricted in your chest, your stomach dropping
One of you would surely be executed for this but you would not let it be Merlin, or gauis. It would be you before it ever was them.
Taking a shaky breath you stepped forward your hand out to block gauis front from stopping you âitâs mine.â
And the beat of your heart deafened you the room went deadly silent guards hands went to their swords ready for anything, in the corner of your eye gauisâs face went ghostly pale filled with horror as he watched his youngest apprentice, the girl he practically raised as if his own stare down this false god with cold eyes the sent fear shooting through gauis, you were capable you like Merlin had the ability to destroy your enemies without lifting a finger but gauis knew you better than for you to defend yourself. But you would be brave braver than anyone else.
You steeled yourself infront of the witchfinder your eyes narrowed dangerously. You did not take kindly to those attempting to ruin your family.
âGuards.â With one word the witch finder sealed your fate, looking to gauis behind you, your eyes only let your guard slip for a moment and the old man saw the burning fear that filled your gaze. As Leonâs hands restrained you with hesitation.
âyou canât!â Gauis called pointedly to the witchfinder âitâs not hers! she doesnât know what sheâs saying.â Gauis pleaded desperately after you seething from where he stood, he would not watch another child die.
you felt your heart break for the man who was like your father. âLeon, please.â You pleaded to Leon to release your hands for just a moment and the man youâve known since childhood released his grip for only a second it was enough for you to break his hold and sprint to take gauis in a hug
Crashing into his arms you closed your eyes blinking away tears And you muttered the one phrase that could save you, that could reverse this fatal mistake, the one thing that stopped the panic in gauis for only a moment âItâs not mine.â
Before Leonâs hands had pulled you from gauisâs comforting arms, your tearful eyes met gauis and you expected to be met with fear but a newfound determination in gauisâs face calmed you, hope filled your heart Merlin would find a way to save you he always did.
Leon bent your hands behind your back and lead you down the halls of the castle
The witchfinder leading you through the halls, your Druid communication had been the most useful in situations like this, situations where Merlin was nowhere to be found
âMerlin, if you can hear this please find a way to get me out of this. The witchfinder has accused us of using magic be careful. Help me Merlin, Please find Arthur.â You didnât get a response despite the fact You had never begged and you never had sounded quite as hopeless as you did then, even when you were behind enemy lines, in enemy dungeons it was different.
They werenât your friends, werenât your family sentencing you to die this was.
As you were dragged through the halls Camelot knights walked all around you, their billowing red capes with the golden dragon crest that once brought you so much comfort now brought only dread, the burning memory being wrapped up in Arthurâs cape on a hunting trip once dearly reminisced now just felt cruel.
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
The braying of horses and the taps of hooves on the ground as you, the knights, Arthur and Merlin set off on a hunt you found it silly to be hunting for game for fun but you couldnât refuse the invite considering you were arthurs personal physician recommended by gauis (and Merlin babysitter) and atleast you were with your closest friends who are the loyalist of loyal.
As opposed to being stuck in gauisâs chambers mulling over books like you do almost daily youâd take any possible time with Arthur especially away from prying eyes.
The sun was starting to go down and you were too far away from Camelot to head home so Arthur called it and youâd be camping in the woods tonight, you didnât mind. It was nice to camp under the stars with your friends away from all the expectations, The watchful eyes. Camelot was home but it was growing increasingly more dangerous.
Here, in the forest with Arthur and Merlin and the knights you were more than just a physician you were equal. You were more then just lower class, you were free and here under the constant cover of trees and the darkening blanket of the setting sun you could be more than some backup physician, you were just y/n. And Prince Arthur was just Arthur.
And if you could have just cupped this moment in your hands and held it tightly to your chest you would have.
Camped by a large oak tree in Arthurâs arms his red cape with the golden pendragon sigil covered your body from the elements keeping you safe and warm and in the light of the fire there was no fear, no worry about expectations. Or watching eyes all that mattered was being truly yourself with the man you love in his arms unashamed.
When sleep finally stole you away from Arthur Merlin couldnât stop the question that was brewing for months âdo you love her?â The young man asked scouring the ground with a stick his arms rested on his knees as he watched the couple together Merlin knew this would turn out badly his best friend, a physician with no title dating the crowned prince of Camelot? A recipe for disaster
He knew what his destiny foretold, he knew the perils and he knew that your role in destiny would surely not let this freedom, this unabashed love stay happy. There could be no room for happiness when you had magic.
âOf course I love her.â The prince found himself telling Merlin hesitation in his voice fear rolling from him in waves, by now it was the late hours of the night, the knights and yourself long since asleep and Merlin and Arthur the only ones still awake
âYou know your father would never approve?â Merlin spoke assured that if uther found out youâd most likely be executed
âI know that Merlin, but one day it will be different my father will have no say and I will be king when I am king I want her- to be my queen.â Arthurâs fingers run through your hair softly a promise Arthur swore to himself he would keep his arms wrapping tightly around your waist the soft sound of your breathing calming Arthurâs pounding heart he knew this was reckless and senseless but this was love. And love has no logic.
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
Now a bitter taste of betrayal sat heavily on your shoulders as you were flanked by those you call friends as they lead you to your death you couldnât blame them itâs not their fault they have to follow uther but it leaves a horrible taste in your mouth
How things had changed.
It was sad to feel Leonâs grip firm but not brutish still trying not to hurt you as if he wasnât leading you to what would be your death. You were aware from the moment Arthur managed to steal your heart youâd end up on the gallows or burnt at the stake or youâd face death in battle intentionally scheduled by uther. He hated anyone who was not of noble blood for Arthur.
And No good ever came from destiny, and if it was your destiny to die in place of your loved ones youâd die a valiant death. But it didnât stop the shake in your hands.
You could mask your fear you would not give the witchfinder what he wants. He would not break you.
But leon could feel the shake in your hand and feel the erratic beat of your heart from the pulse point on your wrist and he wanted nothing more than to damn the consequences and save you but he couldnât. you could only rely on Merlin to prove the witchfinder a fraud and you to be innocent you could only pray for Arthurâs forgiveness. After your innocence is proven.
But the horrible feeling of dread that was building in your stomach as they were leading you into the dungeons a cell- no doubt already made up- And down every step you felt like throwing up when you finally made it to the bottom of the stair case the scent of wet earth and straw filled your nose the bricks that lined the dungeon and its torches that burned steadily along the side of the stairs made you feel ill.
The witch finder swung open the first vacant cell and Leon was forced to keep you there walking you the the center of the room, the suns rays that slipped through the cracks of the small window warmed your face but it didnât comfort you, soon the sun would be your clock, your tally mark for your final night alive if Merlin failed.
Leonâs hands left yours and still the ache in your shoulders stayed âIâm sorryâ he spoke lowly in your ear before he stepped away you turned to finally face your friend
âLeon, let Arthur know Iâm sorryâ You called to the man who grew up beside you who had been growing up pledging to die for Camelot even if that meant dying young he never expected the young girl with so much light in her eyes, and gentleness that always managed to calm her patients, he never thought sheâd be the one on deaths door before him.
Before the man could reply the witch finger slammed the cell door shut and sneered through the bars ânot to worry heâll find out soon enough.â
Your heart constricted in your chest as you watched them all walk away the iron in the Camelot dungeons nullifying your powers and your connection with Merlin you couldnât hear his reply to your plea you were well and truly alone you could of course break out from the cells the iron didnât make you powerless only dulling your connection with the earth, the place your power comes from. But you couldnât put your friends at risk.
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
It was hours later when guards came to haul you away to your sentencing, heavy iron handcuffs clicked into place over your hands large chains weighing you down & tight enough to make the skin on your wrists rub painfully.
As Guards lead you through the castle to the throne room, there you stood at the large mahogany double doors two guards on either side as they flung the doors open all your friends and family, all your previous patients were standing there watching as the witchfinder lead you in as the number one suspect, the guilty witch. two guards gripped your arms and threw you to the ground in front of the king, a man who youâve spent countless hours mending, and stitching up alongside gauis.
Your hands shook as your knees took the brunt of the force, your chains rattling from where you were you couldnât see Merlin, or gauis. But You could feel Merlinâs energy over the crowd
âIâm going to get you out of this y/n, I swear.â Merlin promises to you through your Druid telepathy and you bit back the tears as You scowled at the sight of the ground. you couldnât bare look up at the sight of morgana in front of you, of Arthur infront of you fear that youâll see nothing but disgust, embarrassment and regret on his face.
âHere is the first witch Iâve uncovered in my short time here in Camelot. The court physicians apprentice. The princes! Physician!â Every word the witch finder spoke booms over the crowd as he exclaims to the counsel shock no doubt painted their faces youâve treated every single person in this room and youâve used magic on quite a few to save them. Why was that a bad thing? If you have the power to save someone was that not the right thing to do? Magic is not bad but people are.
âWHO can imagine what she could have used on the prince unsupervised! What magic she could have used and at what cost to the prince!â By the gasps of those standing around the room the witchfinders words seemed to make them angry, seemed to make the king angry he loved Arthur in his own way so for the witchfinder to use Arthur to sentence you, god. You were surely going to die.
âNo.â Arthurâs words were quiet this was the first time he had said anything ây/n a witch? I mean come on weâd know! Sheâs lived in Camelot since she was five. And she wouldnât harm a fly!â Arthur called like it was laughable resting his hand on his hip like it was obvious but by the look in his eye the look of realisation but you couldnât find disgust you didnât have time to search for it.
But It made you turn your gaze to the floor Arthur knows. he knows. you have magic. Youâve healed him countless times. no stab wound, or arrow wound could be healed as quickly as his has or all the time heâs been injured in battle only moments before, before the searing pain has been replaced with a dull ache. Or the times as a child where any scrape or scuffed knee had been eased by a soft kiss over the wound. The look of betrayal passing over his face when you gained the courage to finally look at him made you shrink into yourself
âThatâs exactly what someone under her spell would say. I fear, uther that the prince is too close to her to see clearly.â The witchfinder spoke with a voice like acid and you couldnât stand making yourself small if he was going to do you for magic you would not be ashamed. You would not hide from his gaze.
Your chained hands pushed you from your slumped position on the ground your hair messily falling over your face you stood on shaky legs looking at the people in the throne room, all your friends watching you with pity filled faces you couldnât stand it.
It made you feel sick, especially the fearful teary eyed look from morgana like she was seeing her future you hated this.
Uthers response felt like it took years, ây/n l/n I sentence you to death.â The room fell eerily silent before a scream filled your head, it was Merlin you whirled around to spot him in the crowd tears in his eyes and anger flashing across his face you wouldnât be surprised if the next attempt on uthers life would be from Merlin.
âNo! Father you canât. What evidence do you have?!â Arthur pleaded with his father quietly by his throne anger glaring in arthurs eyes pointed not at you, it gave you hope that he didnât hate you enough to want you dead.
âMy word is final.â The king sneered and your hope filled heart broke. Swallowing hard your eyes searched for Merlin the fear in your eyes hit him hard as he watched
you be carted out of the court room your eyes locking with Merlinâs anger and tears filled his eyes before your eyes swept to Arthurâs & the sheen of betrayal sat heavy in his eyes and before you could stop yourself you called out for him one last time. As the guards dragged you to the doors.
âArthur!â
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
The cells in camelots dungeons were always your most hated place to be from the horrid stench to the chill that cooled your bones to the straw that littered the floor In wet mangled clumps. To the extent it weakened your connection to your magic. Your magic was your strength the very essence of you to have it be weakened by the iron felt wrong.
The dungeons were perhaps the scariest place in Camelot there youâd sit, forced to rot as theyâre building a funeral pyre for you and your execution is due in a day.
But youâd been there for now two days, and Day by day you were becoming more and more sure that this was the one situation Merlin could not save you from.
by the betrayed look on Arthurâs face when you were lead through the large doors infront of the entire court for your sentencing and the cold look in uthers eyes you were a dead woman walking.
And maybe you deserved it by the look on Arthurâs face as the pieces fell into place and he realised all the times his wounds eased that were not with the help of adrenaline, but magic. it made you wonder did he believe you had enchanted him? Bewitched him to love you? It pained you greatly to even think that Arthur may be in his chambers rethinking every kiss youâve shared with one another. Would your love ever truly be enough for him to forgive you for magic? Of course he didnât like magic that was to be expected but he liked you. At least you thought he liked youâŚ
And He liked Merlin, heâd shown countless times indifference to magic, magic that had saved his life countless times, and still the look of betrayal in his eyes made you wonder Were all your secret picnics and stolen kisses in corridors just something to occupy him?
Were you nothing more than Arthurâs dirty little secret, a silly little romance that would have only ended in tragedy?
was it all for nothing?
Were you nothing to him?
No you were not nothing. You were everything you were his in private. the only place he didnât have to perform. He didnât have to agree with his fatherâs actions he could just be Arthur pendragon not the prince.
besides Itâs better to have loved Arthur and to die for it than to have never had him at all. You may never be his queen but you were for a fleeting moment, for a fleeting moment you were his and he was yours.
And now you would burn because you loved your family too much to watch them die, you half wondered as you sat in that cell if uther knew.
If he had known you and Arthur were courting in secret and if he called the witchfinder to get rid of more than one the little scandal waiting to happen and you wouldnât put it past uther to condemn you to death so long as Arthur is still under his control.
The longer you sat in your cell the more you stewed, a slue of emotions crashing over you, from sadness to anger, to acceptance.
You would accept the fate of burning for your loved ones but you would not accept the fate of losing Arthur. Not like this.
You would not be separated by death, if Arthur didnât want you after knowing the truth you would live with it, but you would not live with not knowing.
Your love for the boy had been too strong you were going to marry Arthur in the future, it wasnât to far away having a family with the prince, having a life.
That could have been your future. If you were not awaiting execution.
You sat there in drenching sadness that crashed like waves, what was worse was the sound of keyâs jiggling. Did you misjudge the days? Was this going to be the end? already?
âYou and me are going to have a little talk.â The witch finder sneered unlocking your cell and looking down at you with hatred still you didnât gaze in his eyes. You watched the floor with intensity as he hauled you off to a different cell leading you through the halls past the staircase you caught sight of a shaky morgana your eyes found hers and suddenly you felt a lot more scared than before.
In the cell there was a chair and a table and a small cart of various medical and surgical weapons âoh shitâ your mind screamed as the witch finder forced you to the chair âSo we can do this two ways. Itâs up to you confess why youâre in Camelot and who else has magic. and maybe Iâll let you live. Donât tell me and Iâll find out myself.â The cruelty in his tone made you rear back subconsciously eyes narrowing at the witchfinders gaze
âThenâ you sighed shakily looking at him through your lashes coldlyâyouâre going to have to find out yourself.â You summoned every inch of anger and willed it in your tone. Trying to be brave despite the frantic beats of your heart.
But It was hours spent in that damp Camelot cell hidden from the other prisoners clamped to a chair and the witch finder inches from your face and array of striking weapons on a small cart made your breathing hitch.
But youâve had worse, youâve had to fight wilderin in hengists kingdom for sport. Both yourself and Gwen had been kidnapped under the guise of being morgana and her physician and so yourself and Gwen were forced to masquerade as morgana and yourself and you were stuck in different cells both damp and smelling of blood and wet earth.
And then there was Lancelot who happened to be hengists champion, and a champion who only days later youâd be thrown into the pit with a wilderin with no weapons with a tied up Gwen and Lancelot. Both yourself and Lancelot had stayed behind to give Gwen time to escape and ultimately were the first to be thrown in the cage again you didnât mind as long as Gwen escaped youâd be fine.
But Truth be told the odds were very against you, but magic was always going to save you, but using it would doom you especially in front of everyone in hengists court. With the use of magic and a bloodied broken bone from the wilderins last meal made for a convenient way to murder the beast. Until another one came and Merlin and Arthur had saved you just in time From its hideous rat jaws the huge bleeding scar of its teeth in your arm made you detest the stench of blood and earth.
That was probably the worst experience of your life until now. And the scar from the wilderins teeth was still healing but the physical scars meant nothing the torture of being in a cell that smells the same as this dungeon was the worst that and the feeling of knowing your life is going to end were probably the most humbling experiences.
But, the only saving grace was that night in camp where Arthur had taken it upon himself to patch up your wilderin wound (poorly might you add as a physician it was odd to let the only man with very little experience patching someone up, patch you up.)
But you let him anyway and Arthurâs hands held your arm with feather light touches the needle threaded through your flesh with clumsy fingers the stiching off centre and rough around the edges but it was Arthurâs way of telling you he cared, the silk thread slid easily through your flesh but it pained you every stitch Arthur was no physician but he was trying.
âIâm glad youâre okay. And Gwen told me when they questioned you about any secrets of Camelot you never cracked.â
ânever Camelot is my home.â You smiled at the prince but your attempt at reassurance failed miserably and he ducked his head
âI wish you, cracked. Then they wouldnât have given you that.â Arthur pointed to the growing black eye rapidly swelling over your left eye a bruise you got for refusing to rat out any information on when guards were on duty, the way to the Camelot armory or anything you overheard as a physician from any loose lipped clients.
âI am not weak Arthur. I can deal with a black eye and brutish men. Iâve been sparring with you and the knights for yearsâ Your eyes pointed angrily at the boy crossing your arms over your chest despite the half finished stitching feeling the half sewn wound twist painful as you did so but you hid the pain to appear strong something youâve done since you were young
âI never said that! But you- you arenât weak. I canât stand seeing you in pain.â Arthurâs blue eyes bore into yours with such an intensity his eyes flashing from your lips to your eyes his hand cupping your jaw as he pressed his lips softly against yours shock prevented you from kissing back as the blonde went to pull away you chased his lips kissing him back with feverish passion.
âI love you Arthur.â You rested your head against his the exhaustion of the day catching up to you he didnât say it back but you didnât care he just had to know.
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
The memory of Arthur made you feel loved it kept you strong, hit after hit, once against your ribs twice against your face, four times against your legs and once more against your face with enough force to split your lip licking the blood that dripped from your lip your bruised body heaved in pain and still you never cracked.
âCome on miss l/n, just tell me two little names and all this can stopâ
âYouâre deluded.â You sneered before spitting a wad of blood into the witchfinders face smiling gleefully when your blood tinged spit stained his face but the glee was short lived when the man had sent a quick hit to your chest stealing the air from your lungs.
Before he grabbed a tool with a screw and roughly pulled your thumb into it âyou will tell me miss y/n what your intentions are with the prince and with Camelot or I will force it out of you.â
The witchfinder shredded his coat as he leaned over you tightening the screw into your thumb the pressure of the screw against your finger had you squirming in your seat as he tightened the contraption more and more
âAll you need to do is confess your accomplices. And this will stop.â His voice echoed the room but the feeling of a sharp screw drilling into your finger tighter and tighter puncturing the nail and skin the pain otherworldly and unbearable you tried to hold your scream back but when the man still did not relent and instead tightened the thumb screw you let out your blood curdling scream.
âWHO! Are! Your! Accomplices!â His voice yelled now as he tightened more and more gut wrenching screams ripped from your throat you would let yourself scream, let yourself cry but you would not tell him a thing.
The crushing feeling of your thumb bones breaking made your heart beat incredibly fast your other ironed hand gripped the table with force your nails digging into the wood
He still tightened the screw and by the loud haunting screams that ripped from you and the smile on the witchfinders face he enjoyed your pain you couldnât help the salty tears and horrible screams the pain unbearable and overcoming your sense but still your mouth locked on any information like a vault.
âCome on!â His voice boomed as his hands squeezed your bicep his eyes crazed as he watched you
âFuck you!â You screamed eyes red with tears and fighting the approaching darkness in the corner of your vision
âAredian, sir. The king has called a meeting and requires your presence.â The servant at the cell door had spoken quietly to the witchfinder nervous in his presence
The witchfinder sighed straightening his posture rolled his eyes and moved close to your ear âno matter, miss l/n. The lady morgana, and Merlin will burn with you soonâ
Your heart dropped and you struggled against the restraints the excruciating pain from your finger and the rest of your beaten body the pain in your ribs alluded you to the potential broken bones it caused your panicked shouts to echoed through the dungeon and the witchfinders laugh filled the room
âNo! Aredian stop.â You cried to his retreating figure âIâll confess to the use of sorcery if. And only if, you spare Merlin and morgana.â Your eyes close in defeat
âGood choice, miss y/n. take her to her cell.â
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
And there you were again cut off from anyone and anything unsure if Merlin would be able to prove you innocent, or if heâd burn with you, or if Arthur still even cared the woman he was courting was about to be executed and had just withstood torture. Hengist was bad but he never had broken your bones or tortured you only tried to feed you to wilderin.
The pain in your thumb had dulled but the bleeding hole had still gushed the measly bandage that consider of your dress did barely anything to stop the bleeding and the iron cells mixed with the torture made your magic virtually ineffective making you unable to fully heal your wounds only dulling the pain of your thumb.
your time was running out and you were truly alone in the cells your connection to Merlin via your druid telepathy was proving useless he wouldnât respond you couldnât warn him of the witch finder and by the shine of the moon in your cell you only had hours left.
There is already a funeral pyre with your name on it in the court yard. You couldnât help the tears that slipped down your cheeks you didnât want to die not like this and a prison break wasnât even on your mind theyâd just kill Merlin and gaius in your absence there was no way out. and the crushing guilt of something you cannot change began to pound against your skull. Were you born wrong?
Was it wrong to have this magic? This power that has saved those youâve loved for years why was it seen as inherently evil? Why were you seen as inherently evil? All you wanted was your friends to be safe.
And between the pain that debilitated you from the physical blows to the broken bones in your thumb and the emotional pain of Arthur most likely hating you made you want to just give up.
You pulled your knees to your chest as you cried the stupid scent of blood, earth, and straw polluted your nose. And you found yourself thinking about how lucky Gwen had been to have Lancelot visit her cell in hengists kingdom determined to break her and by extension yourself out.
You had Merlin in your court but you still wished you had someone to hold your hand through the vent even if it was the last thing youâd ever do you didnât want to die alone.
âY/nâ you heard whispered from the doors of your cell âArthur?â You called confusion lacing your voice as your red rimmed eyes met Arthurâs and you couldnât help but run to the cell door resting your head on the bars sobbing in relief at the sight of him the pain from your body put on the back burner for a moment.
âWhat happened?â Guilt filled Arthurâs heart at the sight of you, your eye healing from your previous beating and now the sight of your bloodied broken thumb and bruised body Arthur saw red.
He felt betrayed at the revelation of your magic of course but he understood why you had kept it a secret and if Arthur had been paying more attention he would have seen it plain as day when you were kids.
Your magic was obvious since childhood Arthur was too blind to see it.
âI knowâ was all he said eyes stoney and voice unwavering âI know you have magic the witch finder is right.â
Any hope that bubbles in your chest died with his words âArthur I- i can explainâ You tried shaking your head lacing your uninjured hand in his through the cell pleased when he didnât pull away
âShhh Merlin told me everything, everything youâve ever done to save me. Save everyone. I understand why you did what you did.â Arthur spoke lowly his eyes staring into yours trying to convey his apology
âMerlin has come up with a plan to save you, heâs doing it right now but I couldnât go another day without telling you Iâm sorry you had to keep this a secret. I canât stay for long but- but y/n I love you.â Arthur spoke with all the love he could muster placing a chaste kiss on your lips through the cell
âIâm sorry I didnât tell you before I was afraid of my father I am supposed to be king one day to marry someone of noble blood, but I donât want that. I want you.â Arthurâs voice is quiet as he confesses he wants to spend the rest of your lives together
âI want nothing more.â You felt like crying he still wanted you, magic and all.
âArthur, I was so scared.â You felt so exhausted from the torture to the ticking clock you couldnât help but cry
âShhâ Arthurâs fingers ghosted over the skin of your cheeks wiping your tears. âWe will prove your innocence, Iâll keep your secret. I promise you.â
Arthur placed a kiss on your lips once more pressing a necklace with his ring into your hand before promising Merlin has everything under control.
With your heart a bit lighter you finally sat down on the hard cell bed clutching Arthurâs ring in your hand you let sleep overtake your body trusting that Merlin will save you.
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
When the bright light of the sun shines through your cell window today is the day you are supposed to die, and part of your questioned if you dreamt Arthurâs presence to save your sanity but by the slight pressure of his ring on a chain in your hand reassured your beating heart.
You were not dreaming, Arthur loves you and Merlin just spent last night trying to save you but thereâs still a ticking time bomb of the noon execution and by the switch shift of the guards it was almost 12
Time was ticking and still there was no sign of Merlin you felt sick like your heart was going to fall out of your stomach
You prayed to whatever god or deity was out there that you would not burn today but by the size of the growing crowd outside the cell window your prayers would go unanswered there was nothing you could do but just sit there in anxiety
The rattling of keys and heavy sound of chainmail made you accept the fact that Merlin would be too late to save you and Arthur would watch you burn
When the knight reached your cell his keys turned the lock and he walked towards you slowly your eyes met the floor the pain in your thumb still debilitating but you held Arthurâs ring in your hands tightly if you were to burn your burn knowing you were loved.
To your surprise when the knight takes you by the wrist silver key in hand as he unlocks your handcuffs
Confusion takes over your face as you watch the knight with intensity âwhat?â You canât help but ask rubbing your now freed wrist nervous when he takes your injured hand but this knight grips your hand with gentleness thatâs beyond you
âYouâre free to go missâ the knight smiles he looked to be a newer knight of Camelot one you didnât grow up with but he is kind
âThank youâ you nod to the knight as you stumble from your cell gauis is standing at the end of the hallway white as a ghost but pleased to see you freed from your cell
âY/n!â Gauis smiles opening his arms and you canât help but fall into them holding onto gauis tightly your sobs wet his shirt shoulder
âGauis how did you do it? How did you prove me to be innocent?â You cry your hands shaking and body weak from days spent eating little food and dealing with aredians torture.
âIt was all Merlin and Arthur.â The old man smiles his arms supporting you as you walk up the stairs from the dungeons to your chambers
âTell me everything.âyou smile at the old man walking side by side down the corridor gauisâs laugh fills the empty hallway
âNot here, letâs get your wounds treated.â His eyes glance at the bruises littering your body, and the bloodied thumb
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
You had never been so happy to see your chambers in your life, the comforting smell of herbs and bread the familiar scent of old books and the sound of your boots against the stone floor sounded like music to your ears
Thereâs no scent of wet earth, or blood aside from the metallic smell emanating from your finger you could almost forget the pain of the cells now that youâre back.
But thereâs still very obviously signs of damage done by the witch finders raid broken pots, damaged shelves potions and poisons leaving residue on the floor
But still it is your home. gauis filled a pitcher of water and fills a cup for you and once the water passes your lips you come to realise just how parched you were gulping down glass after glass
gauis busied himself with fixing his work station pulling ointment after ointment and an array of bandages from his kit.
âSit pleaseâ gauis pointed to the table and you sat yourself on the wooden bench gauis had begun to take your makeshift bandage from your wound the gaping hole in your thumb and the blood that spurted from your wound made gauisâs breathing hitch
As he gentle distributed ointment over the wound to fight off growing infections and bandaging up the wound with a fresh bandage Merlin would work on reconstructing your thumb when he gets back
Gauis had felt over your ribs and when he had found another break Merlin would be healing that too for now gauis would sit beside you on the dining room table fresh food would be laid out gauis knew what it was like in the Camelot dungeons and the lack of food
So he didnât comment on how much you ate when approaching footsteps made your heart beat faster and your eyes flicker to gauis his hand rested on top of yours to reassure you, gauis and Merlin would always reassure you you were safe here you werenât trapped in the cells of your own home.
When Merlinâs figure found himself in the doorway you could see the relief on his face that you were okay aside from the bruises and bandaged thumb you were alive.
âOh y/nâ Merlinâs soft voice cried and before you knew it you were pushing up off of the table and running into Merlinâs arms
âHi Merlinâ you held him tightly you owed Merlin your life and so being in his hold meant being safe, he would never hurt you.
âGod Iâm so glad youâre backâ his hold tightened and he could feel your magic strong and your connection to eachother he wasnât cut off from you anymore
âIâm so sorry it took me so long.â Merlinâs guilt ate him alive as he pulled away the black eye and split lip made him see red if he didnât already kill aredian by accident he would have and he would have made him go through what you did.
Merlinâs eyes flashed yellow and the unbearable ache in your thumb and pulsing pain all over ebbed into nothingness.
You could feel your bones reassembling in your thumb and your broken rib fuse back together the pain and bruises once a bright purple colour would dissipate into a light blue and then would turn into the colour of your skin again.
âThank you, Merlin.â You squeezed his hand tightly he nodded his head and held you tightly in his arms
Before a smile broke out on his face âdo you want to hear how I proved aredian to be a fraud?â Merlin helped you sit beside him and poured another glass of water for you
âOf course!â
â.ŕłŕż*:シ
After Merlin had recounted the entire night from convincing Arthur of everything, that despite your magic you loved him with no enchantment and even if you had enchanted him Merlin asked Arthur point blank if what he told him that day you were cuddled in Arthurâs arms if it was still true, if he still loved you.
Arthur told Merlin he would always love you but he couldnât trust you now with magic Merlin felt like slapping the prince.
How could you trust Arthur? Heâs the prince of Camelot. A kingdom that tried to burn a woman at the stake the first day he arrived and you had grown up here watching that and still you treated its citizens and royalty with no malice?
Merlin understood why you couldnât trust Arthur he canât. Not because Arthur was a bad friend but heâs the prince.
No one can help how they are born, but you can put yourself in their shoes and Merlin spent hours convincing Arthur and then more hours enchanting aredian.
From the tincture of belladonna, to the bracelet, to even the frog from aredians throat! Merlin would not fail.
You loved Merlin a lot no one would go as far as he did to save you and you only knew him for a year and a half.
When three knocks sounded on the door Merlin had tried to hide his smile as gauis opened the door to Arthur, in a white shirt freshly showered hair and a Bouquet of wildflowers you felt your heart melt at his kindness
His blue eyes were filled with worry and fear his gaze flicking to gauis and Merlin before he lowered his voice âhow are you?â
âMuch better now Iâm out of that god forsaken cell.â You felt your throat close up at the mention of the cell you spent so long in
Arthur felt guilty about his actions about not saving you or stopping his father. He tried but he could have tried harder
You could see Arthur was drowning in his guilt placing your hand on his shoulder you lead him past gauis and Merlin to your room and sat on your small bed
âYou tried your hardest Arthur, itâs not your fault I was thrown in the dungeons.â
âI should have stopped them y/n. I should have broken you out I should have done anything!â Arthur blinked through tears
His hand holding yours in your lap, âArthur I love you with my whole heart I do not blame you, so please do not blame yourself.â
âI love you and I promise I will spend the rest of my life proving to you how much I love you.â Arthur confessed his eyes full of sincere love
You couldnât help yourself but to kiss him your lips meshing against one anotherâs felt like home, it felt like love and warmth and like an apology all in one.
It wasnât until your lungs burnt for air did you pull back. âI should go I donât want anyone to become suspicious, Iâll see you tomorrow?â Arthur asked tentatively a part of him afraid of rejection.
âOf courseâ you placed another kiss on his lip before pulling open your chamber door to reveal Merlin and gauis on the other side ears pressed against the wood looking guilty.
âMerlinâŚgauis what do you think youâre doing?â You chastise at the pair you expected this of Merlin but of gauis? That was surprising
âGauis i expected better of youâ Arthur laughed from where he stood wrapping an arm around your shoulder

Artist partners! Who say you're their muse, that they love sketching you and painting you in their free time.
There's multiple canvases in their work space of you, looking as if you were something so delicate and like a Greek god.
Artists partners! Who asked you to come to their work space, as they were suffering from art block and you always seem to pull them out of it.
So there you were, laid on their couch, both of your holes stuffed with vibrators, strapped and handled by them as they increasingly turned it down just to turn it back up.
Your head was thrown back, with a vibrating ball gag in your mouth with drool seeping out the sides and dripping onto your bare chest. Completely bare for them.
Artists partners! Who are practically foaming at the mouth as they delicately paint you on the canvas, while touching themselves.
Artists partners! Who turn the vibrators in both holes off the second you were about to cum, leaving you a whining and crying mess, but can't vocally say anything due to the vibrating ball gag, which was making you jaw slack.
Artists partners! Who just chuckle at your whines. "I'm sorry my sweet, but I can't have you cumming, yeah? Not til I'm finished painting you. Once I'm finished, I'll let you cum as much as you want." They paused, "I'll even let you ride my thigh, hm? You'd love that, wouldn't you, dirty girl." They chuckled.
Artists partners! Who deemed you far from cumming now, and immediately turned both vibrators back on, one on low while the one in your ass one high.
The vibrators have your eyes rolling back from the slow and fast stimulation, whining and bucking your hips against the couch.
"tsk, sweet girl, have you learned nothing? Poor brain is all mushy." They laughed almost cruelly, turning the vibrators on high as they continued to paint you, then once again turned them both off right before you could cum.
Artists partners! Who have edged you at least 20 times in the hours while they painted you.
Artists partners! Who's smiled once they were finished, turning the canvas around to let you see the beautiful yet such lewd painting of you, while they turned both the vibrators on high, letting you cum.
"you're such a a pretty girl f'me, letting me paint you in such a way... Go on and cum lovely, look at the painting while you do, wanna watch you cum to the painting of you."

What Are Friends For?
Platonic! Hook x fem!reader
UNEDITED
Request: Can you do a platonic hook x a fem vk reader where sheâs apart of Ulianaâs crew and she isnât really close to James as much as the rest and he goes to the reader for help about his relationship or crush he has on someone? (like el and max from stranger things when el goes to max for help about Mike!) and they end up becoming better friends? Thank you!
It doesnât have to be long I just like the idea of reader and hook being at a sort of awkward stage with each other because they arenât as close but they donât exactly hate each other and it ends with them being closer after she helps him with his love life type thing
summary: you and James arenât as close as you make it seem when it comes to picking on people in school, but what happens when James surprisingly asks for your help with a personal problem for the first time?
genre: fluff, platonic friendship
warnings: bullying, reader insert and steals a line (just to incorporate the reader more) if you donât like it just simply ignore lol, first bit is the scene when Uliana turns into a flamingo after eating the flamingo feathers, insecure hook, he's kinda uptight in this too lol, thatâs it really
a/n: this was really fun to write I love writing platonic friendships, send in requests :)
word count: 2.95k

âI mean flamingo feathers are like, super rare. Right..?â
Uliana questioned Bridget with an obviously fake expression of interest. You and Morgie were on opposite sides of her, you on her left with Morgie on her right while she held a plate of âflamingo feather cupcakesâ above with her tentacles which were out of reach. Hook strutted closer and stood on the other side of you also with a face of mocked interest, turning theatrically slow towards the annoyingly sweet girl and her friends in front of you as you all waited for a reply.
âHey! Give that back to her!â Ella snapped at Uli, âiâm sorry!â Uliana cut her off as you all glared at the group with a scoff while Hades circled them with an intimidating expression, âI donât speak peasant girl.â She finished while handing the cupcake in her hand off to someone to the side of Morgie. You and Hook giggled, âI love your outfit by the way it is just soâŚâ she continued before ripping the shoulder of her poorly sewn dress at the seams, âput together.â You all cackled hysterically at the act, Hook and Morgie circling as they did so, âyou said âput togetherâ cause itâs not.â Morgie pointed out as you all continued to laugh. âmy names Bridget, and I have to bribe people with treats to be my friend because Iâm such a loner..â you mocked with a high pitched tone making the rest cackle harder than they were before at your cruel joke, Uliana throwing her head back as Hook and Morgie rested their elbows on each side of your shoulders, her tentacles wrapping around the four of you. One of the new transfer girls wearing all blue, who looked strangely similar to Ella grabbed a tourney stick from a jock behind her and pointed it in you and Ulianaâs direction, âhey! The Code of Conduct prohibits theft and bullying!â You and Uliana sighed while resting your hands against your own foreheads leaning on each other in faux âwoe was meâ manners. Hook instantly tore the stick away from your face with his hook, âeasy lassâ he began with a playful yet threatening voice before stepping closer to her getting in her face, âI donât know where you come from but here we donât fight until after school. Meet me then.â He teased while sizing her up causing the girl to scoff and she pushed him away, âyou wouldnât stand a chance.â He only giggled at her response.
âListen squid face.â The other new girl who was dressed in red started, pushing the other to the side, Uliana tilted her head, âgive the cupcakes back, or Iâll rip that magic tongue out of your throat.â She threatened. âOh girlâ Uliana laughed before plucking the feathers off the cupcakes, âI only wanted the feathers. You can have the rest.â She snarled then dropped the plate of cupcakes on the ground in front of her causing the plate to break and the girl to jump back as you all laughed again. Uliana dangled the feathers above her head ready to pop them into her mouth, âwait!â Bridget interrupted gaining all of your attention, âthatâs too many.â You all glanced back at Uli who only rolled her eyes and proceeded to swallow them all whole, you Morgie and Hook snickered as she did so. âYou shouldnât have done that.â Bridget warned. Uliana scoffed, dismissing her warning taking out her hand mirror from her pocket, âIâm sorry, you are just jealous of my fabulosity. Okay?â She stated while looking herself in the mirror. âYou canât handle my-â Uliana suddenly let out a terrified gasp as she coughed up pink feathers from her mouth with a honk. You turned to her in confusion as you let out a concerned giggle. You watched as all the cocky confidence drained from Uliâs face in an instant as she glanced around to the other students that were watching also, letting out another honk, âwhat was that?â She frantically asked, the only response she got was from herself as she shrieked in horror at her transformation.
âYou alright, Uli? Youâre looking a little, pink.â Hook let out a nervous laugh, you snickered at his little insensitive comment. âShut up!â She snapped before continuing to let out more bird like noises while her features turned a bright pink, âwhatâs happening to me?!â She yelled, everyone watching in silence, some attempting to stiffen laughs from coming out while others watched with concern. She fell to the ground with a squawk causing you to back away from her with your hand over your mouth, the rest of the VKs frozen in shock besides Hades and Mali who stood with an unfazed look. âWill someone help her!â Fay yelled and ran up from behind the group of girls, âyeah, someone should help her..â Hades agreed in a half assed tone earning a warning backhand to the chest from Maleficent who stood beside him. You and Hook spun to look at them and then to each other with panicked eyes, you then looked over to Morgie and waved your hand, motioning him to help her. He quickly obliged and ran up to Uliana, struggling a bit to pull her jacket off as she fought the transformation from forming covering her face as he fell to the ground with her jacket. She slowly uncovered her face, revealing the flamingo beak and feathers that replaced her normal features. You jumped back bewildered with an audible gasp at the sight as she made eye contact with you before she quickly turned to Bridget and Ella with a glare and charged at them, running past you and your friends as she chased them out of the courtyard while letting out screeches.
You along with the rest of the students all followed behind them. Uliana chased them all the way out to the fountain. You, Hook and Maleficent quickly ran to one entrance while Hades and Morgie ran to the other, trapping them. Bridget and Ella ran into you, you and Hook blocking them with your chests, âhey there, darling!â Hook taunted causing Bridget to run off with Uli still chasing her, leaving Ella in front of you two, âI just want to have a little chat with your friend.â He explained and pointed to Bridget smirking, you laughing while blocking her way out. Ella quickly ran and pulled Bridget off the edge of the fountain causing Uliana to fall backwards into the water. You all gasped, watching her struggle and cough up water letting the two girls get away, scurrying off. Uliana looked around feeling humiliated as everyone began to laugh at the scene that had just happened. Uliana got up and you helped her out of the water, âwhereâs Bridget?â She barked and continued to cough, you shook the water off your hand in disgust, âI will destroy her!â She cried while she began towards the doors, leaving you beside the fountain. âTell Bridget this isnât over!â She threatened as she stormed out, you rolled your eyes and turned to leave, the VKs glaring as Maleficent hissed before she and Hook followed you out the same doors you came in through. That was one of the only times you and James would actually have any sort of interaction that would make people think the two of you were close and even then, it wasnât much. You two in fact were not that close. Sure you shared the same friend group but you two had never had a one on one conversation or really talked to each other much, even when you were with your friend group, so you didnât even know much about the guy. Besides the fact that you both enjoyed tormenting the students of Merlin Academy. There wasnât really a reason why you didnât talk as he nor you had nothing against each other so it was weird. You werenât even sure if you guys were on a first name basis yet. Your friends had also pointed it out a few times and told you how much the two of you actually had in common and questioned why you hadnât spoken to him, and your only response was that you âdidnât have a reason to.â At least you didnât until today.
You were at your locker when you heard someone quickly approaching you from your left, ây/n?â You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion as you heard the deep british voice of your pirate familiar call out your name awkwardly. You were almost positive that was the first time you even heard your name come out of his mouth. You peeked around your locker and was greeted with the young pirate leaned up against the lockers facing you with his arms crossed, an upset look plastered over his face as he let out slow heavy breaths, âoh, hey james..?â You replied in a confused yet polite voice, giving him a small smile. âCould you maybe⌠help me with something?â He asked in a low panicky tone, glancing around in a suspicious manner. You furrowed your eyebrows once more and closed your locker, âuh, yeah sure. Whatâs up?â He swallowed, âI donât think I can talk about it hereâŚâ he trailed off, you tilted your head. For this to be your first time having an actual conversation with him you found it strange and you were quite skeptical, but the more you thought about it, he was a friend after all. At least you thought so, especially if he was coming to you for help rather than the other VKs. You shrugged, âokay, well then maybe we could talk about it in my dorm or something?â He nodded, âokay, come and meet me here after class.â You explained giving him a smile which he returned before you both went your separate ways.
︾âżď¸ľâżŕ¨âĄŕ§âżď¸ľâżď¸ľ
After the dismissal bell you were putting your stuff away in your locker when you heard him approach you again silently, you turned and smiled, âheyâ âhello..â you shut your locker, âno homework?â You teased as you saw that he was empty handed. âOh darling, I donât do homework. And neither do you apparently.â He crossed his arms while he eyed your figure, the only thing in your hand was your personal spell book, âtouchĂŠâ you said simply and began to walk with him down the corridor. âSo what did you need my help with exactly?â You asked curiously, finally breaking the silence as you turned down the hallway towards the dormitory, âI mean, it seemed kinda urgent.â He looked up at you from the ground, âwhat makes you think that?â You scoffed, âwell for one you practically ran up to me all panicked and you looked pretty upset.â He tilted his head, âDid I?â You shook your head, âJames, I may not know you on a personal level all that well. But itâs quite known that you have trouble with hiding your feelings..â he thought about it and silently shrugged in agreement, âand that leads me to my second point, you never ask for my help, or talk to me for that matter..â you lightly trailed off in realization, âwhat? Thatâs not true, weâve talked before?â He tried, chuckling nervously, you gave him a stern look, slightly raising your eyebrows. He sighed, âokay, you have a point. But I do still consider you a friend.â He stated. You looked up at him, âreally?â He nodded, âof course I do, love.â You smiled, âwell I consider you one too.â
You made it to your dorm and opened the door letting yourself in as James followed behind, he hummed, âno roommate?â He questioned as he looked around the room. You looked back at him as you threw your book on your desk, ânopeâ you shrugged, âwell I did at one point, but she just eventually stopped coming back, I think I scared her off.â James only laughed and continued looking around. âSo, whatâs up?â You asked while sitting on your bed facing him as you crossed your legs and rested your head on your hands. He looked over at you and slowly walked up to you, âwell thereâs this girl-â you cut him off with a loud gasp, âou, fun! Who is it?â You asked with excitement. He rolled his eyes, âI wasnât finished.â You giggled and covered your mouth, âsorry.â You whispered, âcontinue.â He swallowed before continuing, âI just donât know, I donât know what girls like or how to ask her outâŚâ he admitted, shame evident in his voice. You shot your head up, straightening your back in surprise, âwait you mean you, James Hook, who is probably the biggest flirt in the school, doesnât know how to simply ask out a girl?â You asked shocked, he rolled his eyes, âyes I know. But I really do need your help because I really like this girl and I would really like to ask her out to castle coming but itâs like sheâs scared of me and I wouldâve asked Mali or Uliana but you know how they are, theyâll just poke fun at me for liking a goody good.â He rambled on as he opened up. You shrugged, âwanna spell her?â He shook his head, âno, I donât want to go the easy route. I want to learn how to ask her out.â You nodded, âokay, well, youâre already an extremely flirtatious person, even without trying and very good looking and charming Iâd say, so thatâs a startâ you began, âobviouslyâ he scoffed causing you to roll your eyes, âyeah..but see, that, would be something Iâd work on.â He looked down at you with a puzzled look, âgirls donât like guys who are full of arrogance. Sure we like confidence but not guys who are full of themselves. Girls like guys who will compliment them more than they compliment themselves. Guys who do thoughtful selfless things for them without asking.â You explained, he listened to you intently, âand guys who are, nic..er?â You said falteringly. âNicer?â You let out a small laugh, âwell, you do realize that we have a bit of a reputation of being âmeanâ right?â You made air quotations with your hands, He scoffed once more, âwell yes, of course.â You nodded slowly, âand we, well you especially, have something that people would call a ârbfâ?â He sat down on your desk chair in front of you, crossing his arms and slouched back, âyeah? What about it?â You sighed, think of how you should word your thoughts, âIâm just saying that maybe if you were a bit more amicable, she wouldnât be as timid to talk to you.â He thought about it, your words simmering in his mind. âSo, what should I do?â You scooted closer to the edge of the bed towards him, âwell if you ask me, Iâd say to start with-â âI am asking you.â The smile on your face dropped and you crossed your arms, âokay, start with losing the attitude. And second, and I know itâs easier said than done but just be yourself but you know, without the arrogance and attitude.â
He stared at you with a wary look before standing up, âthatâs the problem Y/n. I just donât know how, when it comes to this girl specifically, my mind goes completely blank.â you stood up and followed him to the middle of the room. âHm, okay. Have you talked to this girl before?â He nodded, âa few times, yeah.â You nodded slowly, âmkay and what does she know about you already? Have you hinted that youâre interested?â You shook your head and cut him off as he was about to answer, âwait never mind, everyone thinks you have a thing for them..â you mumbled, he gave you a look, âbut anyways, what does she know about you? What have you talked about?â He thought about it, âwell she doesnât know that much about me if Iâm being honest, but I do know that she enjoys walks, she likes the beach, her favourite colour is purple, and she loves baking.â You nodded, âwell she sounds, sweet.â Your voice going up an octave, trying your best to not sound judgmental. You cleared your throat as you saw the warning look he gave you while crossing his arms, âwhat I mean is that it doesnât seem like it would be that hard to get her to say yes. Youâve already let her talk about herself so you know what she likes, she seems to be comfortable enough to talk to you about herself despite you know, you being a VK. And youâve already gotten past the hardest part of becoming sort of friends with her. To be honest you didnât even really need my help in the first place so Iâd say just keep being you, and whenever the time feels right just go for it.â You shrugged, he bit the tip of his hook as he thought hard about it, âokay. Iâll try.â You smiled, âoh, and whenever that time comes, get her flowers. Girls like that.â He scoffed, âwell yeah, Iâm not an idiot. Sorry.â He quickly apologized. You walked closer to him and rested your hands on his shoulders, âhey, youâve got this. Donât stress about it and donât overthink.â You walked over to your desk and picked up your spell book, âand if it doesnât work out, we could always spell her.â You suggested, voice mixed with a hint of sarcasm that he picked up on causing him to let out a laugh.
âThank you, y/n. I appreciate your help.â
You smiled, âof course, I mean thatâs what friends are for right?â

Hamish Mycroft (Merlin) X Female Reader

WC: 2,674
Warnings: Reader is from Statesman, mention of alcohol, bombs mentioned, love at first sight (sort of), teasing, taunting, nervousness, embarrassment, anxiety, guns mentioned, murder mentioned, flirting, confessions, bets, slight angst, and fluff
Stepping off the small helicopter, you held down your hair as you ducked under the blades; holding your briefcase tightly in one hand. A little ways away, stood two men in suits, hands clasped behind their back. You mentally rolled your eyes. Kingsman always seemed so... Extra. Them in their perfectly tailored suits and framed glasses. Brushing down your hair, you stood in front of the two men, letting out a sigh.Â
"Welcome to Kingsman, Fireball." The older man greeted you.Â
The younger man turned to his partner, an eyebrow raising. "Fireball? What? They ran out of names?"
"Yes." You spoke up, "In some senses they did. You two must be Harry and Eggsy." The looks on their faces were priceless. Eyes wide, Eggsy's jaw dropped.
"How do you know our names?" Eggsy asked and you shrugged with a grin.
"I'm a hacker. That's what you wanted when you contacted the Statesman, correct?"
Harry was quick to recover, clearing his throat before he said anything else.
"Yes. we need you to locate someone." His voice hardened, his expression darkening slightly as they led you into the Kingsman mansion.
"Mmm, my favorite activity. Anyone fun?" You asked, wiggling your eyebrows teasingly at them. As you followed them inside, Eggsy nudged Harry with a slight smirk. Harry gave him a stern look.
"They have codes to a bomb," Harry replied and Eggsy grinned.
"And we need them so we can disarm it." He finished, and your eyes lit up in recollection.
"Oooh! Mr. David Frizzle. We've been monitoring him for some time."
"His location has been locked down pretty well though. Even our wizard couldn't track him." Your lips curled upward slightly as Eggsy spoke.
"Mmm, and you think I can't? Watch and learn, boys. Take me to your hacking room."
Harry and Eggsy looked at one another briefly before leading you through the fantastic mansion. Walking down long hallways with large paintings, you took your time looking around, until you stopped in front of two doors. Harry opened the door for you and you looked around. The room was clean, white floors and dark wood walls. Along the back wall were rows and rows of electronic cases of blinking lights and other do-dads. It was a bit smaller than your office, but you could make it work. Looking over to the desk in the room, it faced a bunch of screens. And, in a chair, was a man. He turned as the three of you entered, standing. You couldn't help but stare at him. You have seen a lot of people in this line of work. But not like him. Bald, clean-shaven, dark eyes that glinted with intelligence behind his glasses as he stared right back at you.
"Fireball," He addressed you formally, pulling you back to reality, "Merlin." He offered his hand out to you. With a smirk, you shook it.
"I know. A pleasure to meet you."Â
"You know?" Merlin asked, and you nodded, taking in the man before you.
"Of course, I'm a hacker." You shrugged, before realizing you and Merlin were still shaking each other's hands.
He cleared his throat, dropping your hand as you brought your hand back to your side. âSo tell us about David Frizzle.â
Your face fell. "We've been tracking him for years and his computer systems are always top-notch."
"What have you learned?" Harry asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Well, this... Frizzle is only the middle man it seems. Ginger and I think his boss is the real target here."
"Can you find out where he is?" Merlin asked, clasping his hands behind his back.
"Most likely." You agreed, before moving past Merlin and to his desk. Sitting down in his chair, you pulled up your briefcase, setting it down before you. Harry, Eggsy, and Merlin watched as you clicked open your case, revealing the various pieces of equipment within. "Alright, let's get this party started." You said, before rapidly typing on your small keyboard.
You smiled as you began to scan the screen. There were files everywhere, but you weren't having trouble reading it all. As you navigated through the servers, you found several pieces of information regarding the specific individual. You quickly pulled up a map and began working your way through the different locations. As you worked, you felt a presence beside you. Glancing quickly, you spotted Merlin leaning next to you, his dark eyes staring at your screen. Biting your lip, you tried to calm your racing heart and flushing cheeks. You glanced back at the screen, trying to ignore the close proximity of the both of you. "Done!" You exclaimed, your screen displaying a map of England, a red blinking dot placed over Glasgow. "The best guess is that he'll probably stay put somewhere near here." You pointed to the screen.
"Wow," Eggsy laughed out from the other side of you, almost startling you. "That was quick."
"Three minutes quick," Harry spoke up, glancing up from his watch.
Merlin swallowed thickly, looking down at your screen, at you, and back. Merlin would admit it, he was impressed. You were incredibly fast, more so than any other hacker he knew. Not only did you have the skills necessary to access multiple systems, but also you could handle them. He had thought you were just a normal hacker. Not a master hacker, who was practically immortal and could take on entire governments by herself. But you proved otherwise when you're hacked into the MI6 database, bypassing the firewall, and hacking into national security databases. "Good job, Fireball. I'm sure he won't expect us to track him directly."
"No, he won't." You confirmed, before beginning to type away again, "I think I'll be able to find out exactly where he's residing as well. Just give me... Five minutes." You typed away furiously, ignoring the fact that Merlin was watching you intensely and that Eggsy and Harry were now chatting. You didn't care if he was watching. It wasn't hard to see your mind whirring, analyzing every detail as you narrowed your map closer and closer to where Mr. Frizzle was located. In about 15 seconds, you had figured out where he was being kept. "Got it."
"Where is he?" Harry asked immediately.
"A penthouse apartment in the city."
"Do you know his address?" Merlin questioned.
"Yes."
"Let's go. Now." Eggsy ordered as he and Harry ran out of the room.Â
Letting out a sigh, your eyes widened in realization as you scooted the chair back, standing up. "Sorry for stealing your chair like that." You apologized to Merlin, who only shook his head.
"No, it's fine. You can have mine." He spoke, accent thickening slightly as he walked past you as you sat down again, pushing a chair to sit beside you.
"So," You began, watching the screens before you to see Harry and Eggsy already driving. "This is what you do? Hack and lead the team?"
"Something like that," Merlin said simply, staring up at the screens.
"Well..." You paused, thinking, looking at him. "Do you also go out into the field?" You asked, tilting your head towards him and he hummed lightly, turning to face you.
"I used to." He answered, his voice soft.
You smiled, nodding. "Me too." You let out a sigh, before looking back at the screens, "But that darn Tequila took my place when he joined."
"Yeah?" Merlin asked, turning to face you.
"Yup." You replied, popping the 'p', "They're a pain in the butt."
For the next four hours, you and Merlin conversed with each other, even sharing lunch together while you watched Harry and Eggsy enter the apartment. And in that amount of time, you had grown to like the Scottish hacker quite a bit. He was nice, polite, kind, and intelligent. He was quite handsome too. Sharp jawline, dark piercing gaze... You found yourself becoming very fond of his company. He was extremely attractive. And, for whatever reason, made you feel safe like there was nothing to fear when you were around him. It frightened you slightly... How quickly you had fallen for the man before you.
~~~
It had been three months since you joined Kingsman temporarily and you were loving it. Working with Merlin was something entirely new and exhilarating. The two of you had begun working together fairly regularly, helping one another with missions, and even talking at length on occasion. Merlin was a smart man, and you found yourself getting to know him rather quickly. Well, minus his real day-to-day life outside of Kingsman. And he had grown quite fond of you as well, unknowingly to you. He told you stories of times when he went on missions, and you told him yours. You loved when he spoke, and you often found yourself smiling at everything he said. You loved the way his eyes lit up and the way his mouth curved upwards in amusement. You found yourself falling more and more in love with him every day.Â
Merlin thought you were incredibly intelligent, talented, and funny; And as the days went on, it grew harder and harder to hide his smile from you. He loved your cheeky grin and the way you laughed; it sounded like music to his ears. He loved your eyes, which were always bright and a bit mischievous. It was like you were a magnet, drawing him into your orbit, and he couldn't stop himself from being affected by you. It didn't help matters that you were absolutely gorgeous; not only your appearance but your personality and everything about you seemed to make his heart beat faster.Â
"Merlin, sugar, you're staring." You spoke up, snapping him out of his thoughts, making him blink. He quickly turned back to the screens.
"Am I?"
"Yes." You laughed, sitting back in your seat. "I know. I look cute today. Very distracting." You teased, making Merlin chuckle lightly.
He wasn't affirming or denying. Instead, he continued typing. "Have you located the address yet?"
"Yep! Here we goâŚ" You muttered, your fingers flying across the keyboard as you scanned through various documents and data to find the address you were looking for. By tapping 'enter' you sent the address to Eggsy. You then looked up, noticing how closely Merlin was watching you. He quickly averted his gaze, his cheeks tinting pink as he focused on the monitors in front of him. You bit your lip, trying to hide your smile as you looked down at your lap. You were hoping your mind wasn't playing tricks on you. And you hoped you weren't reading too much into the way he was looking at you. The look in his eyes, it was like admiration at most, but there was something else underneath. Something deeper. Something... Hidden.
Merlin sat frozen in his seat, forcing himself to stare at the screens before him, and forcing himself to remain focused on the task at hand. It was hard though, especially because his focus would drift to you every once in and while, watching you from the corner of his eye. He watched as you fiddled with your hands in your lap, chewing on your bottom lip, seemingly lost in thought. And Merlin found butterflies fluttering in his stomach at the sight, causing him to avert his gaze. He cleared his throat softly, trying to suppress his thoughts. This isn't the time to think about this right now, Merlin. Focus!Â
"Merlin?" Your voice pulled him out of his trance as he glanced towards you. "Where?" You repeated, and Merlin looked away from you, biting down on his lip.
"Um, yeah. Right here." He stated, pointing to the screen. "Here," He pointed to a large white building surrounded by an impressive array of guards. "You have to find a way in, Eggsy. There are guards at each entrance." Merlin spoke through the mic.
You pursed your lips as you looked at him, "Uh, Merlin, uh... Heâs already in." You spoke and Merlin froze before you spoke again, "He doesnât know which way to go, you have that information." You told him and Merlin nodded his head, before swiftly getting back into business.
He swallowed before speaking, "Alright, take a right down this hall." He spoke through the mic before turning to you. "Fireball... Uh, I was wondering-"
"Which way now?" Eggsy spoke through the speakers, interrupting Merlin. "Any guards I should know about inside?"
Merlin turned back to the microphone, "Take the next left and up the stairs, no guards on the second floor." He said before turning back to you, as you looked up at him curiously. "I was wondering if you'd like to-"
"Merlin! Where to now?" Eggsy asked as he ran up the stairs, gun in hand.
Growing frustrated, Merlin turned back to the mic, "Third floor, keep going, guards are stationed at the office door." He spoke impatiently before turning back to you, "I was wondering-"
"Merlin!"Â
Merlin swirled in his seat, pressing his hand down on the mic, "Yes, Eggsy?" He asked, letting out a frustrated sigh.
"Hurry up and ask her out already, mate." Eggsy taunted as Merlin's eyes widened slightly and he froze. You looked at Merlin with those same wide eyes, confused and more so surprised as Eggsy continued to talk, "Ask her out and focus on the mission." You could tell Merlin was embarrassed by Eggsy's words, as he shifted in his chair, avoiding your eyes; his cheeks and tips of his ears tinted pink.
After a moment he sighed softly before turning back to you, "Right, sorry..." He mumbled quietly. You watched as he adjusted the knot of his tie from beneath his sweater, eyes glancing everywhere but at you. "Do you... Want to have dinner with me?" Merlin asked nervously.
"Like a date?" You asked, trying to sound calm and collected. But your heart was pounding and you knew the blush growing rapidly on your face gave it away. Merlin just nodded, looking away from your eyes.
"If you wanted." He answered simply, his voice soft as a gentle smile appeared on his features.
You let out an infectious laugh, "'Bout time you asked me." You teased, "I'd love too, Merlin." You breathed out.
"Finally!" Eggsy spoke from the speakers, gaining both yours and Merlin's attention, "Harry owes me thirty quid."
"You bet on us?" You asked and Eggsy laughed again, stepping over the bodies of the men who had been guarding the office door.
"Yeah, either Merlin was going to ask you out, or you were, once you were done waiting." He said, "Harry voted on you."
You hummed, shifting awkwardly in your seat as you glanced down, feeling embarrassed. Merlin just sighed, "Eggsy. Enter the office." He commanded softly.
"I'm just saying, I better be invited to the wedding." Eggsy continued to tease.
"Go into the office, agent," Merlin stated, his tone growing irritated. "Merlin out."
A few moments passed and you felt your heart flutter at the silence that fell between you and Merlin.
"So... Dinner?" You finally spoke, clearing your throat as you tried not to stare at Merlin.
"Dinner, yes, of course. I know this nice diner." He asked, and you finally turned to look at him. âIf youâre interested?â
"I love diner food.â You gushed before you shifted in your seat, biting your lip briefly, âAnd, since we're going to go to dinner together, you might as well know my real name." You spoke, before scooting your chair closer to his. Leaning forward, you cupped the side of your mouth with a hand as you whispered your name into Merlin's ear.
Pulling away, Merlin smiled, a real genuine smile. "That's a beautiful name." He complimented, and your stomach fluttered.
"Thanks." You murmured shyly, both yours and Merlinâs hands finding each otherâs.
"Y/- I mean... Fireball." Merlin uttered quietly, gazing deep into your eyes, and your breath hitched as he leaned forward, whispering in your ear, "Hamish Mycroft." He pulled back as you stared up at him.Â
"Beautiful name." You hummed with a smile.
Morgan Pendragon: My Fair Maiden Pt 2
Request: Hi! i really love your morgan pendragon fanfic! can you make part 2? if thats ok. Hope you are doing well! @shobi-enzo
A/N: I really wanted to write a part two and your request has only made me want to write it quicker, so let's see what happens next with Morgan and Emmery, and how quickly will word travel of this new alliance.
Warning(s): discomfort around eating in front of others
When Morgan had dismissed everyone not even two minutes after her grand display of acceptance, many left either confused or almost troubled by what they saw.
The evening had certainly not been what anyone had expected it to be, least of all Morgan herself but she had hardly seemed startled by the sudden events, if anything she accepted them with open arms and open lips it would seem.
It wasn't even Morgan who had dismissed everyone from the meeting hall, it had actually been Vivien and the Nun sybil who Morgan kept around, they both felt that privacy was necessary.
Both already expecting that rumours would quickly spread and in Sybil's mind in particular they didn't want to add, public displays of something more sensual then the already shared kiss to reach the ears of the unwanted.
Yet even with the room now clear of all people, Morgan didn't want to pull away from that sensual kiss, she wanted it to continue forever feeling as if she'd entered heaven with the tender and firmness of the embrace her mouth had received.
She'd only pulled away when the very real and human need for air was burning away at her lungs, yet the action of pulling away was done with much disappointment.
Then as her eyes regained the ability to see clearly and the air was quickly filling her lungs, Morgan surveyed the woman before her who she now could only describe as something ethereal and other worldly, with the way that she to caught her own breath and the pink tint that now covered her cheeks.
"Now, as much as I would greatly love to continue," Morgan began, the ability to speak quickly returning to her as she gazed upon the copper haired woman standing before her, "The night has become quite late and I do believe a proper nights sleep would be prudent, we can discuss the nature of your proposed agreement in the morning."
Emmery's gaze then fell upon Morgan in an almost grateful yet bewildered look and she wasn't the only one even Morgan was shocked by the words that had just left her mouth, it was certainly the smart decision but it was quite different to what Morgan actually wanted to do, sleep being one of the last things.
"I do believe that would be prudent, My lady." Emmery spoke with a formal tone accompanying the end of her sentence with a simple curtsy towards the Pendragon royal.
"Perfect, now if you'll follow me," And then before Emmery could even respond a second time, Morgan had turned round and began walking off to the side of the hall, exiting via a side door and quickly Emmery gathered her wits and quickly followed the brunette.
Morgan lead the two of them down several corridors before stopping in front of a dark wooden door that she gestured to with her hand whilst looking at the woman standing beside her.
"This will be your room," Morgan said tilting her head to the side encouraging Emmery to open the doors to the room, which she soon realised and did as instructed.
As Emmery stepped into the room and quickly familiarised herself with the space and all its possessions, Morgan stood their watching as the woman dressed in green, gracefully walked from one side of the room to the other, every so often picking something up and looking at it thoroughly, whether it were a book she was reading the spine of or a perfume that she wished to know the scent of.
Morgan watched the woman's actions intently with a pleasant look resting upon her face, her thoughts constantly switching but each one had the same topic of focus and that was the beauty who now inhabited her castle and very soon would be her own possession.
Ten minutes later Morgan begrudgingly excused herself to retire to her own room for the night, though at first her body wouldn't follow instructions from her mind and it took her yet another minute, to get her legs to follow command and leave the room.
It wasn't even a ten second walk to Morgan's room, a purposeful decision on her part as she wanted to keep Emmery as close as she possibly could to herself but the thought of offering for them to share a room on the first night, though a certainly delicious idea to Morgan, she didn't want to risk scaring the woman away.
Morning soon rolled around the next day and for Morgan the night itself had almost been completely sleepless. Yet for Emmery sleep had come easily and a sense of comfort soon washed over her after she'd changed for the night and gotten into bed.
Now breakfast time Emmery had been instructed to quickly get dressed in a gown she had been offered from one of the servants and to immediately meet Morgan in a smaller banquet room for breakfast.
The gown Emmery now wore was a beautiful red with full sleeves and an incredibly intricate skirt. Only the scent that clung to it wasn't her own and though she'd only met the famous Morgan Pendragon yesterday she could recognise the woman's perfume lacing the garment and couldn't help but allow the scent to consume her.
When she'd arrived yesterday with her offer, she'd had little hope that Morgan would say yes. Emmery had heard stories that had reached her in the North about the new King and how he'd 'rightfully' taken the throne from his older sister.
Then from hearing this one story Emmery was eager to hear more about this sister to the King, and soon she heard all that could been known up in the North about Morgan Pendragon and her ridiculous plan had soon followed.
Emmery was quick to follow instruction and soon entered the small banquet hall, to already be greeted with Morgan's radiant face. The Lady Royal had settled on a gown of purple and a simply circlet crown of gold and Emmery couldn't help but stare intently at her beauty.
"The foods here," Morgan spoke breaking Emmery's intent stare as she gestured to the selection of foods on the table and then she continued. "Not here, Darling," then Morgan made a gesture to her own face where Emmery had been staring, purposefully adding the 'Darling' to see the reaction she would receive.
And true to what Morgan thought, she did receive a reaction from the copper haired woman, who's face quickly brightened with a blush and her eyes shied away from looking anywhere near Morgan. To this the brunette was only encouraged further as a taunting smirk rested upon her lips.
Quickly, Emmery took a seat at the table trying to recover at least some of her lost composure, using the food laid out in front of her as the perfect excuse to not have to look at Morgan.
Though the uncomfortable feeling, at the idea of eating in front of someone else, made its self apparent to Emmery, as she only allowed herself to take a bit of bread not daring to reach for the bowl of honey that sat at the centre of the table for fear of ridicule for eating something so sweet and, well, just for eating at all.
A palpable silence fell across the room and though she were momentarily distracted by collecting her own food, Morgan soon looked over to the other woman and saw the lack of food on her plate and a lack of eating said food.
"Why aren't you eating?" Morgan asked afraid there were something wrong with the food or even worse, with her. Now Emmery couldn't avoid her stare and even when she did, Morgan's piercing gaze felt like a weight hitting at the back of her head.
"I'm... I'm just not hungry," Emmery spoke her voice wavering slightly as she met Morgan's piercing blue eyes, her first words coming out as a stutter as her confidence wavered if only for a moment.
"Nonsense," Morgan quickly and dismissively ignored the copper haired woman's poor excuse, not believing what Emmery said to be the truth for even a minute.
Then Morgan began to lean across the table and took a piece of bread and tearing it in half before dipping the smallest piece into the bowl of honey, then she said "Here," and held up the piece of honey covered bread to Emmery's lips, encouraging the woman to eat.
At first Emmery refused, saying it felt childish, but when she caught on to the fact that Morgan wasn't going to back down, she soon relented and opened her mouth, a playful look of disdain playing on her features as Morgan placed the sweetened bread into the green eyed lady's mouth.
After Emmery had taken the piece of food, Morgan retracted her fingers, sticky from the honey, then slowly she placed the two digits into her mouth, tauntingly sucking them clean.
Emmery watched the Pendragon woman's little display her eyes following each movement of Morgan's fingers as she cleaned them free of the honey, her thoughts if only for a moment went to something darker and certainly not something of pleasantry for breakfast.
The two noble women finished their food in a non-awkward silence, as Emmery quickly gained confidence with eating in front of Morgan and soon she'd had enough food to keep her full until dinner. ______________________________________________________ I think this will end up being a multi part story because I have a few ideas for it and the parts are ending up being really long.
Every time I read a Merthur fic where the need for Arthur to have an heir comes up as a complication for them being together I'm just like "Merlin is magic. If there's an aging spell surely there's a spell to change your sex. Why can't he change himself into a woman for 9 months?"
Of course, I'm aware that not everyone is into mpreg, which I guess this would technically be, but the idea not even passing the character's minds is what gets me. Include a scene where the question is asked and give an answer for why they don't go for it cause there are a few you could do. Arthur might be scared of losing Merlin if they try a pregnancy that involves magic, even if it's not what's creating the life, because of what happened to his mother. Or maybe the only way for them to conceive even with Merlin as a woman is to use the same magic that made Arthur and neither of them are willing to give up a life for them to have a child. Or maybe they don't find a spell that can turn Merlin into a woman at all despite trying and the search adds more strain to the relationship (perfect opportunity for angst with this setup). Or Merlin could just straight up not be comfortable with the idea which is valid, I may see him as genderfluid and happily using this kind of spell even without the intention of getting pregnant but not everyone does.
My point is that when you're in a magic setting with a magic user as part of the main pairing and one of their obstacles is "I can't give you heirs" why do they not even question if there is a way to overcome that obstacle with magic?
Just hold me
Summary: y/n pendragon, is well protected by the knights of the round table and her big brother but when theyâre ambushed in the woods and the capable princess is hurt, Gwaine comes to her rescue. But is he too late to save her?
A/n: I love my Irish husband!! gwaines one of my absolute favourites, I Also couldnât resist making him readerâs bodyguard ahh so cute!! Princess x bodyguard trope or well Princess x knight. I swear it does end in fluff (nothings ever permanent) Also c/h/n means childhood nickname.
Warning: blood, fighting, reader stabs people, readers kinda savage, until she gets owned, angst, major character death, gwaines a little ooc, grammar mistakes.
đđźđđźđ
The, cool breeze of the forest blew through your hair as the horses continued their trot through the woods neighbouring Camelot, your friends hyper aware of every sound, of every creak in the trees, that blew the leaves. They were wary of every rustling of breeze, and every old muddy footprint.
Everyone on edge since morgana turned a new leaf, and decided her siblings were her enemy and the crown was her lifeâs purpose, it made a heavy sadness linger in your heart. A great deal of dread that made your skin itch.
Your e/c eyes observed the surroundings, Arthur infront, Merlin beside him, you behind Merlin Gwaine next to you, and the rest of the knights littered all around you all in a protective circle, so that if your sister crawled out from the wood work and decided to attack you they would be ready. And prepared for a fight with the witch.
Out of the both of you Arthur had been taking her betrayal harder than you, he had been sulking in his room with Merlin more than usual and the loss of your father, it was a wound too fresh for the man.
From morganas betrayal, to uthers death, magic seemingly left only destruction in its wake, and Arthurâs life felt like it was falling apart. you were Arthurâs only hope.
the only one he had still on his side. still alive. If the boy was protective before he became even more protective after your sisters betrayal, so protective he assigned gwaine as your personal knight.
Smooth talking, drunk, sticks his hands in beehives, Beautiful, talented, quick witted, gwaine. You never wanted a personal guard but he was talented with a sword, and it helped he looked good in the uniform. So you werenât too angry at your brother thinking you needed protection, you were fully capable of course youâd been sparing with Arthur since you were kids and beating him for just as long.
But no matter your skills you were defenceless against your sisters magic. everyone was.
You let out a nervous breath at the thought, the hairs on the back of your neck started to stand up your purple velvet cape obscuring your face but still you felt bare, like there were eyes on you.
Whirling your head around your eyes bore into the wooded bush a few meters away looking for any movement or any sign of life, you observed the bush with narrow eyes, paranoid.
âAre you alright Princess?â gwaine asked his horse matching your pace beside you, as he leaned to your ear, his hot breath fanning your face as he whispered. His brown eyes staring protectively at you.
âHm? oh- yes fineâŚâ you trailed off eyes never leaving the trees, your heart dropped to your stomach as you gripped the reigns tightly in your hands the leather straps rough against your skin as you squeezed tightly.
your twin daggers strapped to your hips, their weight giving you a sense of comfort as your brain started to catastrophize.
âYou donât look alright.â Gwaine pressed, his eyes flickering over your face protectively, You could tell he didnât believe a thing you said. Ignoring the fluttering in your chest you couldnât stop looking at the woods around you something felt off.
âThereâs nothing there, princess.â The man reassured his voice stern but gentle, his hand placed over yours on the reigns. And his comforting hands over yours made you release your bruising grip on the reigns.
âI know, I just haveâŚa bad feeling.â You murmur, your eyes swimming with worry a mix of familiar paranoia, and intuition.
gwaine was inclined to believe you and your bad feeling when he caught sight of a dark figure hidden behind trees.
The man had been hiding his own unsettling feeling since the moment your group ventured further into the forest, but Arthur appeared unaware of his sister, and her guards paranoia as he commanded the group, âweâll stop here, let the horses rest.â
Arthur always had a voice that seemingly echoed even if he didnât want it too, and by his tone of voice he wasnât taking no for an answer.
Your eyes locked with Gwaines and it appeared the man didnât have enough energy to mask his emotions this time. Anxiety was present in his eyes. A wave of nausea washed over you.
As Arthur lead the seven of you to a small grassed area surrounded by trees a small stream only a few steps away the soft continuous flow of water hid the shakiness of your breaths as you shrugged your leg over your stallion, your leg leaving his stirrup as you hit the floor, Gwaine already circling around to you his reigns in hand as you lead your horses to the river.
âI have a bad feeling still. and I know you do too. Do not lie to me gwaine.â You pleaded to the man as you lead your horse to the stream and your hands run over your horses back as he drinks beside you. The cool breeze blowing under your cape.
âPlease, Princess. I donât want to worry you.â Gwaine eventually says his gaze lowered onto the stream at your feet.
âPlease gwaine, you know nothing scares me.â You tease bumping his arm with yours but your voice betrays you it shakes as you speaks. you had lied to him you were scared. who wouldnât be, you may have had the knights of Camelot to guard you but it would do nothing if you were caught by surprised and surrounded. Which was easier to do the longer you waited.
Gwaines gloved hand came out to hold yours in a tight grip, ânothing will happen to you princess I swear.â The dark haired man promises his dark eyes stern with promise.
Before you could reply to the man the whiz of an arrow souring past your head and shouts of your friends alert you to your fears and you whip your head up quickly looking into the trees around you, a large group of 60 men clad in dark clothes surrounded you.
Bandits working for morgana, great.
Sharing a look with Gwaine the man draws his sword and a smug smile graces his lips at the idea of a fight and you canât help but think he looks really hot but the fight around you snaps you from your daydream and alerts you to pull your daggers from their sheaths.
And they glint dangerously in the light the shouts of your friends in your makeshift camp only a few few feet away, fades into nothingness far too focused on yourself and gwaine to worry for your friends. They had more knights than you and Gwaine did.
But by the sheer volume of bandits around, you and gwaine began to realise just how much trouble youâre really in. gravitating toward eachother you stood back to back as the leering bandits drew closer.
âStay close Princess Iâll take majority. if they come at you, you know what to do?â Gwaine asked his sword out infront of him protectively
âKill em?â You look up at the man with a tilt of your head a mischievous look in your eyes and the knight beside you laughs
âYeah, kill em.â The raven haired man looks at you with a smug, slightly proud smirk on his face and he gentle elbows you to focus,
So you Hold up your daggers to protect your face an equally smug smile draws across your lips and in a blink of an eye the fight begins.
the silver sword of one man goes to come down on you and you parry it with ease holding it away from you as you slash across his chest with your other dagger, as his body leans to the side you plunge your weapon into his chest his blood staining your silver blade, and you watch in morbid curiosity as the man groans and he falls to the forest floor dead.
You donât bat an eye at the corpse, Instead you find yourself ducking a long sword from another bandit as the whiz of arrows fly around you, you canât see Gwaine in your periphery too busy avoiding the large man infront of you as he stalks toward you. no matter your height he seems to be giant.
âYouâre going to die little dragon.â He laughs his voice like charcoal and his sword held easily in his hands
âNo. Iâm not.â You sneer spinning your dagger in your hand and planting your feet into the mud more as he goes to slash at your torso you leap backwards out of the way, heâs as slow as he is big but the power of his hits shake the very earth beneath your feet.
And whatâs worse his powerful hits are full of accuracy, as he whirls around to hit you again and both daggers go to hold him off, the sounds of your blades grinding together hurts your ears and you grind your teeth determined to not die by this giant.
pushing his sword to the ground you surge forward planting your dagger into an artery by his leg in retaliation the giants blade comes towards you at full force his swing takes you off guard and you narrowly miss his blow that was meant to sever your head from your neck. and in doing so you donât pay attention to the pain that lands itself in your shoulder.
The adrenaline masks any pain, but youâre angry now the smug smile of the bandit infront of you angers you so much you take your dagger in your hand and fling it into the eye of the giant Infront of you and the sharpness of your dagger embeds itself into his eye socket. His eye makes a horrid squish as blood and juices squirt. And the man drops dead beside you. Bus long sword falling beside him.
You sneer and grab your dagger from his eye and as you pull it from the socket more blood squirts, you exclaim in disgust as his blood stains your face
An angry shout from a small dirty blonde bandit fills the air as he makes quick action toward you his battle cry falling on deaf ears and you go to throw your dagger, gwaine beats you too it his sword lacerate the manâs throat and he falls dead easily.
Breathing a sigh of relief you look to the brunette knight and he nods in respect before going to fight more of the approaching bandits.
The sound of twigs breaking behind you urge you to duck and you narrowly miss a sword meant for your head instead you grab the manâs arm and fling him over you as he hits the ground with a groan, he lays underneath you as you prepare to plunge your dagger in his chest. his legs sweep yours and you too end up on your back beside the man and your weapon lays just out of reach as the man crawls ontop of you.
His hands grip your throat tightly and your eyes blow wide in panic as your claw at his hands itâs useless so your fingers vacate to his face and your fingers lodge into his eye sockets as his grip on your throat tightens
âCome on!â Your mind screams at you as blackness swims in your vision before a sword lodges through the manâs chest and drenches you in his blood Gwaine is there standing above you as he watches you cough desperate for air. His eyes filled with worry as he gives you his hand helping you to your feet as you continue to wheeze lungs screaming for air.
âAre you alright princess?!â His hands grip your biceps as he pulls you to his chest hands holding the back of your head in worry
âIâm fine, pretty boy. Thanks for saving me.â You nod at the man but your hands shake as gwaine hands you your discarded weapons the daggers bring you comfort as you look at the world around you still there are more bandits around you but it appears many have dissipated.
Whether they have retreated, or theyâve gone to cause your friends havoc you arenât sure but you canât find yourself to worry for your friends. Youâre too busy looking into gwaines chocolate brown eyes, and you canât help but place a kiss to gwaines cheek when you pull back from his bearded face you catch sight of an approaching man.
âDUCK!â You scream and the knight ducks just in time. You quickly bring one of your dagger to block their sword as they manoeuvre their blade back and then you both fall into a kind of deadly dance pushing further and further away from Gwaine. Your blades mash against each other and you continue to miss his slashes and jabs.
The bandit moves his sword quickly, too quick to dodge and he manages to cut off a piece of your hair and slice your cheek your blood begins to trickle down your face and in anger you jam your dagger through his leather armour and directly into the manâs heart.
His blade falls from his hold and he drops limply. His eyes glare at you the entire time his body fails him. The body collapses onto the bottom of you cape staining the purple darker with blood and you make the decision to cut the latch dropping your cloak so that nothing holds you down.
Your tunic, and pants cling to your body tightly stained with the blood of your enemies, you donât care not about the bodies littering the forest floor, or the wetness in your boot from stepping through the stream for better ground to fight on. Not about your friends and if theyâre fighting an onslaught of bandits. All you care about is not dying.
The volume of men have dipped significantly but there are still 4 or 5 of them and one man left is an archer quickly loading his bow and releasing the arrows at yourself and Gwaine, if you two were worse fighters he wouldâve loaded quite a few into the pair of you marching toward the man you hold your daggers outward crimson blood drops from the tip and soaks quickly into the squishy mud ridden forest floor. The bandit quickly loads an arrow and lets it fly, you avoid his shot with ease ducking beneath it he knocks another and fires it in quick succession and you find yourself skidding against the mud it coats your pants as you miss his fire and the man is panicked now as you stand up,
And you watch his hands shake as he tries to load his bow, itâs too late, youâre on top of the man. âPlease! Please your grace, Spare me. I have children! pleaseâ He whimpers beneath you and your heart aches in your chest
As your eyes rake the manâs figure you make the decision to hit him over the head with the butt of your dagger and you donât spare the man another glance before you walk away.
Turning your back to the archer you observe the carnage, Gwaine had gotten quite a few bandits defeated in quick time, the man now intense fight with probably the best bandit here. heâs quick, and talented with a sword.
But Gwaine keeps his own, and you deem it safe enough to not watch the man anymore instead you find yourself up against the final man heâs large like the man you fought before, but this man is smart.
And his dagger drips with something other than blood, a deep blue, oozing liquid? poison. You quickly realise
And now youâre sure you never want to let this manâs weapon touch you. his stinking grey teeth peak through his lips as he sizes you up, the princess of Camelot, clearly exhausted. Clearly covered in a mix of blood and mud, and very obviously in pain. The giants sword from before had managed to rattle your teeth with his hit but youâd been so distracted it hadnât even registered. clearly the adrenaline of your other injuries had began to wear off.
And This man is quicker then expected as he hurries to you, his sword cuts through the air like butter and heâs clearly just as skilled as the man battling against gwaine. And looking back on it they seemed to be twins.
the moment his blade comes too close for comfort youâre parrying his strike, and the grinding of blades are deafening in your ears.
the ache in your shoulder swells through you the gruesome cut oozing and it makes your strength falter you move slower the burning pain shooting through your shoulder sends you waves of more then just discomfort.
you feel bile well in your throat but you donât falter as you slash at the bandit he avoids it with ease, every duck, every twirl, every slice, he avoids.
Itâs like heâs been watching you? observing your moves? and itâs abundantly clear even with the exhaustion plaguing your muscles and the slick mud beneath you. It makes you worried.
Springing back away from the man you slash at his shoulder nicking him with the blade and watching as he cringes back in more annoyance than pain. and when his sword goes to make contact with your body you duck away from the man until eventually you find yourself behind him
just when things began to look up, just when you were finally winning.
Until The pained shout from gwaine only a few feet away causes you to lose focus and your gaze is set on the Irish man on the floor his chain mail dirty, his face covered in blood and mud, his hair a mess, and a sword held above the man. In a deadly fashion.
And your body moves before your mind and you find yourself flinging your dagger into the bandits back watching satisfied as the man falls dead over the top of gwaine, letting out a sigh of relief at the sight you completely forget that you were mid fight with a bandit yourself. A bandit with a blade coated in poison.
âY/n!â Before you can get your bearings in order gwaines shouting Your name
And you turn just in time to see the man drive his sword in your side and you whip your head up to look at the man who just stabbed you a horrid smile on his face, as the sharp searing pain of a sword impaling you burns your insides. your warm blood trickles from the wound around the sword, and you drop your spare dagger to the floor unconsciously you seemingly have no control of your body, and your eyes shine with unshead tears. Itâs the worst pain youâve ever felt in your entire life like the world is spinning and your side feels like itâs on fire.
The man stand carelessly above you smiling a sickly smile as he rips his blade out of you and you donât muffle your shout of pain, you know youâre going to die when the man brings his sword up to cut you down and your tears fall you canât bare to look at his face your mind filling with thoughts of gwaine if you were going to die youâd die with the man you loved on your mind.
Shutting your eyes tightly you expect the killing blow, only to feel nothing? Cracking an eye open Gwaineâs sword embeds itself directly in the bandits heart, you watch as gwaine pulls his sword out quickly and rushes to your aid as he watches your knees buckle. And you donât go to stop your knees from colliding with the mud instead your shaky hands go to hold your bleeding wound, your hand immediately stain with blood when they come into contact with the wound.
Gwaine Holds your bloody form in his arms your hands stained with your blood you feel sick to your stomach, and sweat begins to break on your forehead, you feel like youâre already losing feeling in your feet.
As Gwaines strong arms wrap around you as the knight lifts you up against him, his arms around your knees and shoulders respectively.
He moves quickly to the rest of the knights, and despite the delirius state youâre in from the lack of blood you can only heart your heart beat in your ears but everytime he runs you see a glimpse of his face and you can see heâs screaming.
Your heart constricts in your chest and you whimper in his arms âj-just hold me.â
the man looks down at you with eyes full of tears and that shine with something akin to love. But almost as quickly as the shine came its gone, replaced with fear. It makes Gwaine tighten his grip on you and scream louder
And through the blurriness of your vision you see your brothers scared face break the tree line and b-line to you, as your head lulls to the side you watch Arthur get closer to you and you feel him take you in his arms, sobs escape the young kings as he slumps to his knees you in his embrace ây/n- c/h/n, please donât do this to me.â
Arthur mutters rocking you back and forth and you see Merlin over his shoulder, face white as a ghost. Hands tightly held over his mouth, and the last thing you see is the servant boy boss the knights around with commands about how to help you, before the darkness takes you.
đđźđđźđ
Thereâs a guttural ache in your bones from the fight and a dull burning from your stomach itâs accompanied with a hard pressure on your wound that makes you yell out a sickening blood curdling scream and by the feeling of multiple hands holding you down to stop the thrashing itâs abundantly clear Merlinâs trying his best to save you.
Your brothers hands are familiar as they grip your shoulders, holding you down, youâre alive, mentally youâre awake but you canât open your eyes.
You canât control your own twitching body, the wet feeling of your sticky blood on your side, but you can hear every little thing around you, and yet you still canât open your eyes and thereâs this horrible wheezing sound.
And you come to realise itâs your breathingâŚit feels like youâre breathing through sand and every breath you take fills your lungs with sand like an hour glass.
and then you feel that familiar pressure on your wound and suddenly you feel everything, every burning stabbing sensation, all over your body it burns as quickly and as hot as a wild fire and it feels like hours before you finally feel absolutely nothing again.
And you think maybe it lasts for awhile, but thereâs no way to tell time. Itâs funny when you can see nothing but the back of your eyelids and the world is dark and you canât feel the muddy floor beneath your back. you canât feel the sticks, and the dirt, and the sound of the stream, you canât smell your brothers familiar scent, you canât feel the wetness of your boot, or the dried blood on your body, and you canât see gwaines face.
Or hear his comforting voice, you canât discern anything but blankness and you half think youâve stopped breathing. As if your very lungs donât heave against the poison in your blood stream anymore
But you think whilst youâre trapped in darkness that Your nose bleeds, and your mouth fills with red blood and those who surround your body begin to realise how dire every second is.
Merlin is the only one who can save you. Heâs the only one who can rip deaths cold hands from your body and ground you to earth. your chest doesnât rise.
and those around you know youâre dead. And you canât feel it yourself, like your spirit is lifting from the cage that is your body up into the sky, ripping through you and part of you is ready to go.
But Gwaine and Merlin will not allow it, Gwaine drops beside your body his hands pumping your chest to start your heart and his lips are on yours pumping oxygen into your lungs.
and it gives Merlin enough time to mutter a healing spell his eyes glow gold and its mere moments that your translucent spirit ripping from your vessel slams back into your body.
Gwaine still continues his assault on your ribs breathing air into your lungs, he ignores the metallic taste from your lips, and he pleads with every god he can that you will come back to him.
And itâs almost as if the gods deem him worthy.
And you wake up gasping for air springing up from your brothers hold your eyes snapping open your chest heaves with effort to fill your lungs and your heart beat is sluggish before beating hard and strong against your chest.
And Merlinâs hands are on your side checking your wound the gaping hole sealed, and Your wound is practically gone. The servant boy quickly bandages your side before anyone can notice but his bandages
Canât hide the gross greeny purple tendrils that peak out from the off white plaster. Your side feels clean but the blood still sticks to your face and the pain in your side and shoulder still lingers but you canât bring yourself to care when gwaine gently takes you from your brothers embrace and hold you so gently against him.
âOh Princess, never do that to me again.â His calloused hands hold you against him tightly and he tries to mask their shaking.
But you donât care pulling back from his holds Your eyes take his figure and you canât help yourself, You smash your lips against his and his beard tickles your skin. and it takes him no time to kiss back his lips mash against yours in a feverish kiss. Itâs like your lips fit together perfectly and you find yourself wishing to never let go of the knight in front of you.
His tears fall onto your skin and you donât care, you pull him closer to your body and you donât care when your lungs burn screaming for air.
You never want to be apart from him.
Not when you just tasted the sour nothingness of death. It doesnât wait. Itâs cold, and uncaring.
And Gwaine feels your hands shake as you pull him closer his heart physically hurts for you heâs sure youâre probably freaking out.
After you pull back from your kisses you look at the faces of your friends around you, Arthurâs blood shot eyes filled with tears stare at you with such fear, such uncertainty.
the ghostly look in his eyes as he looks at you tugs your heart strings. You realise he canât differentiate if youâre truly here. And alive he had just seen his sister die. And be brought back.
Of course it would be a lot to process.
beside you Merlin his shaky hands and nervous smile his red hands stained with your blood, and his wet teary face that looks so scared as he looks at you with a mixture of nervousness at the use of his magic and happiness youâre alive.
And your eyes flicker to everyone around you from Leon, who youâve known since childhood- to elyan, and Percival. who you havenât known for such a long time but still felt their world shake when your heart stopped beating. You were their princess to see you die in front of themâŚit was heavy.
Your dead body would haunt them for the rest of their days,the cold desolate blue of your lips and the way your head lulled in gwaines arms.
Tears littered everyoneâs eyes as your brother and Gwaine were the first to pull you into an embrace the rest of your friends quickly followed, their iron grip on you brought you so much love and peace.
A chorus of âIâm glad youâre aliveâ to âgood to have you backâ ranged from your friends before elyan was the first person to suggest moving to a safer area the unsettling feeling of the corpses scattered around you all made you uneasy, it especially made Gwaine the most uneasy, the man couldnât stop his intrusive thoughts what if it was you they were leaving behind? What if you died and your corpse was left to decay on the muddy floor of the forest no one around to mourn you it made him feel a bit unwell.
So finally you all high tailed it out of there to a new camp well maned by your friends, a camp where absolutely no one could ambush you. Where it was safe enough for Merlin to patch up your friends injuries.
And night fell quickly the stars shone overhead the green grass served as a pillow under your head and the rocks surrounding you like a barrier from bandits.the ruins of an old castle like a comforting shield and The slight hill you all now camped on was far out of the forest of the rival kingdom where you all were ambushed, finally on safe ground.
Merlin had stayed close to you for most of the early evening to ensure you were alright. And that he didnât seal up any left over poison.
Crickets chirped in the back ground as yourself and Merlin sat in silence staring at the fire. You turned to the boy, speaking gently âthank you, I know what you did.â
You smiled at the boy, a knowing glint in your eye and Merlin felt his heart drop as he shrugged
âItâs what anyone would have done, milady. Iâm glad youâre still with usâ Merlin smiled kindly he had a soft spot for the youngest pendragon she was always kind to him, and unlike her sister her perception of him didnât change. Out of every pendragon she was probably the one Merlin trusted with his secrets the most.
You were Always clever and observant, you were definitely someone heâd protect with his life just like Arthur.
âThatâs the thing though, Merlin. I was goneâŚI wasnât- my heart stoppedâ you struggled to find the words putting your legs to your chest as you watched the flames
âI was dead. I felt my heart stop, my heart knew what was happening my- my soul? Was leaving my body and something pulled me back in. It wasnât Gwaines kiss of life although it did helpâ you chuckled before you became serious again âIt was you Merlin.â You spoke your voice shaky but sure of yourself as you looked the boy in his terrified eyes
âPlease y/n Itâs not like that.â Merlin pleaded, his hand reaching for you and his skin getting sweaty and nervous at the thought of the youngest pendragon knowing he had magic, it wasnât that he didnât trust her on the contrary he trusted her whole heartedly but he was always nervous to let people in on his magic it tended to get them killed.
Will, His father, Lancelot⌠Merlin hated how his magic could save lives but in the end heâs always lose something he hoped this time things would be different.
âI know magic when I see it Merlin, donât worry Iâd never tell. You saved my life. I should have you knightedâ You smiled at the boy, before bumping your shoulders together.
âOh please donât-â Merlin started disgust in his voice at the idea of joining your friends as a knight laughing at Merlinâs horrified face
âDonât worry, I wonât. But really thank you Merlin. You deserve more creditâ you smiled at the boy before pushing off of the ground and making your way to Gwaine over by the ruins watching the stars through the window on the second story lost in thought
âMind if I join you?â You called, watching as the Irish man jumped clumsily almost falling through the window.
âNot not at all, please sitâ Gwaine replied shuffling over sitting beside the man you watched the stars from the window in silence for a moment
âIâm sorryâ you both spoke at the same time, swallowing a laugh at the unintentional overlap
âYou goâ you pressed sitting up and looking at Gwaine intently
âIâm sorry, Iâm the reason you diedâŚI didnât protect you. It was my only job and I let you get stabbed.â Gwaine shook his head the man couldnât bare to look at you in your eyes too afraid heâd see your lifeless ones staring back in a way he was thankful your eyes shut when you died.
In a way it looked like you were sleeping, only the lack of a rise and fall of your chest showed gwaine that you werenât just sleeping. You were dead and it was gwaines fault.
The man blamed himself, kept running through the last battle moments over and over in his head. If he didnât shout, if he was quieter maybe everything could have been avoided, or if he listened to your funny feeling maybe you all never would have even been ambushed.
It made Gwaine start to appreciate his friends âfunny feelingsâ something Merlin and the youngest pendragon both shared Gwaine couldnât get the thoughts out of his head that he was the reason everything happened.
âGwaineâ you placed your hand over his, âit wasnât your fault, I know what youâre doing. Stop blaming yourself.â Your grip on gwaines hands tightened trying to reassure him it could have happened to anyone.
âBut I should have listened to you. I didnât and you died! You fucking died!â Gwaine cries, his hands cover his mouth to mask his sob heâs striped himself of his chain mail now heâs left wearing a blue tunic and a leather bangle that clings to his muscley arm you know itâs not the right time but god does he look good.
âGwaine.â You shout shaking his shoulders so heâll finally look at you
âJust shut up and kiss me.â You sigh in the silver light of the moon, its only Gwaine and yourself in the ruins and you want to take full advantage of that
âYes Princessâ
